i was looking on ebay for a damp detector for the caravan and all i can seem to find is ones like or neraly identical as this. i was wondering could you tell me if it was any good?. also the previous owner has put a bij onto the main door on the inside he out in screws that were too big and they protruded through the aluminum ever so slightly, they have made a hole about the size of a needle prick. is this anything to worry about or how could i get it fixed?
I'm fairly sure this is the one most posters who mention getting a damp tester from B&Q mean. I can't say if its any good as I have not used one but they seem very popular round 'these parts'.

Dgolf, I bought the exact one at B&Q, used it all over the inside of our van, i thought bloody great not a spot of damp. Harringtons in Cheshire used a much better tester on our van 2 weeks later and found it had 40% damp on one of the sides. I think B&Q's tester is a bit cheap and nasty.

Mark.
Not really, the one Harrington's used cost upward of £150 which is fine for professional use but daft for using once or twice a year.
The only real problem with the cheapo's are the probes which are like 6" nails compared to the expensive kits finely honed points which penetrate deeper and also leave little in the way of a mark. If you can make a better job of putting a point on the cheap ones they will find damp just as well as the more expensive ones..a buzz is as good as a proper reading to know that damp is there or not
