NNNNNNNNooooooooooooooooo. anyone but E& hEll, do a search, myself and many others have changed companies due to the snide and underhand ways they operate. I use the caravan club now, more expensive but I would rather scoop my eyeballs out with a spoon then go with E&hEll

ME TOO .nfu are very good on price.we are with the caravan club now.we have the 500/5 and with the CC you can get new for old for the next 10 years,a bit dear yes but get what you pay for on insurance as i know from past experence.more here

I found this site by error whilst looking for something on Google but what a little gem it seems to be, as after a good hours reading of a number of different postings I have learnt so much as a first time caravanner and have added to my favourites as a future regular read.

In connection with Mike's very kind detailed response I wanted to check my security arrangements as my van when collected this weekend will have a hitchlock, wheel clamp and a factory fitted PIR/Tilt sensor alarm, is this adequate arrangement?

We had always been with the Caravan Club insurance until we got a new van last year and realized just how much over the top we'd been paying all those years and that was for the basic 5C cover!

So, did some research on here, (natch), and eventually switched to Caravan Guard which seems to have good feedback and saved us about a £100 a year, which wasn't to be sniffed at.

Admittedly Caravan Guard still wasn't the cheapest, but it seemed more reliable than some others, (E&L especially...dreadful reports as seen above on Mike's post), and did cover us for everything we may need, (fingers crossed we never do)

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, I have recived a few alternative quotes and Caravan Guard looks favourite for my business based upon your suggestions and I found them very helpfull. Hippy Chick what a fantastic welcome.

Hi a lad i no he has just got insurance for his caravan only £78 is van is worth £1.500 and awning £400  from the caravanig yard limited has any body herd of these ??

Hi Andy, nnnnnooooooooooooooo from me toodon't touch E&L we were with them for 8 months until we saw a post on here about them (thank heavens for u.k.c.s.) got in touch with them told them that the added security that they required in the small print was not pointed out to us on taking out the insurance and hey presto, they gave us back all that we had paid to date. Quite worrying though to think that all that time we weren't insured.

 Welcome to the site, it's so addictive, it's like a drop in centre, you have to keep popping in to see whats new. (better to be a drop in than a drop out) lol.

Our insurers insisted we had a Tracker fitted on our new van - as well as wheelclamps, hitchlocks, secure fencing, perimeter lighting, armed guards at each corner of the storage area with instructions of shoot to kill.  However, Swift Group Customer Services in Hull insisted that the security they fitted at the factory (alarm and microchip) was adequate enough in their eyes to prevent the van being stolen...  and anything else was " a matter of taste".
