Are you, or ever have been a member of the Coachman Owners Club and attended any of the rallies that the club holds throughout the year?

Just interesting to see what the views and feedback are regarding the club in general.

Not recently we havent, but were members for about 4 years back in the mid 90s.

We only attended a couple of meets, one near the LLangollen Canal that had around 20 vans attending, and another one in Yorkshire. they are quite similar to the caravan club rallies except perhaps abit more of having a look around everyone elses outfits as to hints and tips, modifications and how a certain towcar performed with a certain caravan. There was a spares swop stall at the Yorkshire one, and a newsletter distributed about every quarter.

I would say that if you enjoy being sociable and dont mind people wanting to take a look around your outfit then it maybe for you, if your the private type of person that prefares to just use the event for a pitch for the weekend, then like the Caravan Club Rallies it may not be for you, or you may just wish to join up for the newsletter and hints and tips, like all Rallies, a lot of those attending did seam to know eachother very well and probably met up most weekends throughout the season and not just at Coachman meets.

It cannot beat the experiance i had last year though whilst on a CL in North Wales, Hubby had gone out for a Walk, and I was having a snooze on one of the long front side seats when my Caravan door opened and in walked a complete stranger who woke me up to ask if I carried a spare TV Coax cable he could borrow as his was not suitable for digital connection from the sites TV Points

Talk about a cheek, he could have at least knocked at the door and awaited a reply before entering, I now lock the van door if i want to take a nap in the afternoon, and hubby takes the key with him if hes off for a walk so that a repeate of this inceident never happens again.

I'm surprised that this post didn't generate much interest as there must be many members of UK campsite that own a Coachman caravan whether it be old or new.

We have been members for a couple of years now, whilst we are not avid ralliers we have been to about five , and booked more for this year.  I must say they are a really good crowd.  If you don't want to join in with the activities you are not made to feel out of it.  You just do your own thing. Having said that, it is a terrible shame for people not to join in when the rally marshalls have gone to all the trouble of organising things. Each rally is different some times nothing is organised . They go to some nice locations we can find 4 or so each year within an hours drive of Derby. The factory rally is worth going to if you can get in. I have been in other owners clubs, and this is definatly the best. Join for a year and give it a try, if you don't like it (which I very much doubt) then it has only cost you a tenner.

Hi Big Al,

Was this place called 'Monk's Barn Farm' just off the Shipston Road?

I know that they have two CL's there, one for the Camping & Caravanning Club and also one for the Caravan Club. Although they are located at the same place, the two 5 van sites are situated apart from each other. The rally field is a bit further down the track away from the CL sites which also include electric hook up's.

Cost £15 to join but unfortuantley only about 5 rallies within a reasonable distance so any savings on sites are blown on fuel costs. Reading on their site, it gives the impression that even the slightest transgression can have dire consequences.
We prefer to arrive, choose our own site, connect up and relax. Hate arriving at the rally site, finding a suitable pitch only to be told it is being reseved for someone coming later or even the next day. The finding a nother pitch and then been told the same thing. Eventually you find you have to take a pitch that under normal circusmtances you would never dream of taking.

We have been members for the last 2 years. At first we didn't fancy doing rallies, (no EHU was a bit downer!) and so we just booked just the factory rally in September, (to be nosey really.) We really enjoyed the rally, so much so we booked another 3 rallies before the end of that year.
We went on 10 rallies last year and are booked on about the same again this year, first one being at Eden Camp in Feb, Malton, Yorkshire. We have not been to a bad one, and now we enjoy the rallies better that going to a site with full facilities.
TRUST ME, join it!
You'll love it!
