Just back from 6 weeks camping in Dordogne & SW France coast with VRX500 & it was good, no complaints, about 4 night time rain storms-no leaks-easy enough for 2 people to put up & it appears well made ... Comments from billy
I decided to have a go at putting it up in the garden with a trusty helper my dad. At first it was a hassle to thread the first pole through. Infact it did not seam that it would fit in the pin. But from getting that first pole through the other two were fine from then on. We later realised that the first poles pin was slightly tangled making it a tighter fit. And we soon sorted that out.
The tent was begining to take shape and it was becoming apparent of the overall size. A Medium sized tent with loads of head room. 306cm ish wide and the living area has over 280cm when measured.
The Groundsheet for the living area leaves virtually no gaps so it is similar to a Sig if layed out correctly. I slightly lifted the ends up to make a flap although somehow a spider made its way in, mind you i had not put the groundsheet in far enough so there was a gap near the bedrooms.
The sun was shining so i opend the sky light and the 4 windows, the two front and the two side by side ones giving the tent ample light and a decent view of the sky and garden. It was at this point when I realised I had made the right decision to buy this tent.
Shortly after the heavens opened and when it rains it pours especially onto the tent. Then the wind blew quite hard so i pegged out the guide ropes and it withstood the shaking better. Inside no water leaked in and the only water that did get in was when I opened the door to get in and out. With the advantage of having a seperate ground sheet i shaked it dry when the rain finally stopped.
All in all trial and error of putting it up correctly this is a very good quality tent and worth the money. It may be a bit of a squeeze in the living area for 5 people at a guess but for any less you will get on fine.
