I was looking forward to my stay at Roundhill in the new forest and to meet up with friends I hadn't seen for 12 months or so. From an unwelcoming entry into the site to a general in your face and sometime aggressive attitude by the wardens/staff which ruined what should have been a lovely weekend.
There was even sewage and bin trucks driving around late into the evening. I also didn't like that unsupervised children were kicking footballs around my pitch and using the area as a playground until 11pm (dark at 7pm) when their pitch or family group was in a different area, but nothing was said or done by the wardens, however having a quiet coffee sitting around with a few friends who were in there own campers drew the attention of the Wardens.
As for the facilities they are adequate, plenty of water points, the toilets and showers are ok but nothing special, the disabled facilities were permanently locked during my stay without another option for the two wheel chair users in our meet. The campsite itself is lovely, spoilt by overarching team that were on site.

A very large site with many trees and bushes, clean & tidy with short grass.
I was booked in efficiently and given a map of the site. I spent some time driving around and found a nice secluded spot to pitch my tent.
Quite a lot of horses, donkeys and cows strolling around when I arrived, no trouble with those - it was rather nice to see them.
The toilet facilities seemed fairly basic but as I was only there for one night it didn't bother me.
The site was conveniently located for a car rally at the Beaulieu motor museum.

Stayed for nine nights in a wonderfully peaceful setting. Ponies and cattle roamed freely and the pitch sizes were vast in comparison to normal UK camp sites.
The staff were friendly and helpful and there are some great walks through the forest.
The nearest pub is about 2. 5 miles away but it is great walk on reasonably flat ground. Easy to navigate as long as you leave the site by the correct gate!
Brockenhurst is about 2 miles away where the open top Forest Tour buses stop.
There were no toilets, showers or hook ups on this site.

Since we discovered this site over 30 yrs ago we have been returning yearly. This year we were able to holiday during September.
On our arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff. We parked our caravan in a tranquil spot and made it our home for the next three weeks.
The site itself was extremely quiet and clean with plenty of space between units. All staff helpful and talkative which makes a friendly atmosphere and a pleasant stay.
We rated low because there was no toilet/shower block, to be honest we never use due to there poor condition NOT MISSED. Surly prices should be reduced to coincide with other sites with no facilities.

This huge site was very quiet when we stayed, possibly due to the very wet weather as well as COVID-19!
It is in a great location for cycling, but take care to avoid the almost unusable bridleway past Dilton Farm.
Choose your pitch with care as following heavy rain some areas take ages to drain.

We had a fabulous few days at this campsite, the location was perfect for the type of holiday that we wanted with nothing but the New Forest surrounding us, only a short drive to the nearest shop, and value for money (we were fortunate enough to be able to use a 15% off code that the website was offering at the time of our booking).
We stayed in a tent and whilst the idea of having to choose your own pitch was daunting at first - there are so many areas to choose from, we found a nice sheltered location. There is a lot of choice of differing pitches, whether you want under tree or a field location.
The only gripe I had for the whole time I was there was the toilet and shower blocks. Whilst they are functional and generally clean (with a master team of cleaners on rotation day and night it seemed), they are extremely dated and could do with a spruce up. But I never experienced any issue with hot water supply, and whilst they were busy during the normal periods, I either moved on to another block or waited my generally short turn.
CAUTION: due to the forest location, there are a lot of free roaming animals, as you'd expect in the new forest, so do heed the wardens warnings about food. We saw a few tents being invaded during our time and, whilst we did not have animals in our tent, when we were eating breakfast one morning a donkey came and took a plastic spoon from my daughters (frozen still with shock) hand.
I would have no hesitation of visiting again, and hope to do so soon.

We have stayed a few times before for long weekends, . We think it is a great site, with lots of room so you do feel as if you are camping in the forest.
We like it because there are no club house or entertainment, you can just enjoy the forest. Great location for walking and cycling.
Staff are super friendly and help, a super good traditional campsite.

A group of us stayed here after attending an event at Beaulieu. This site is really convenient and the drive there from Tonbridge was pretty relaxed. Motorway signposting doesn't mention the New Forest just Southhampton and the Docks.
A New Forest sign eventually appears after a few minutes of arguing about being lost or not. I thought this site was pretty inexpensive although another reviewer said it was expensive. Reception was basic, the various toilet blocks were basic and I felt you got what you paid for. Whilst we got pretty average weather I could see why people who had been there in the rain were disappointed.
It was quite a windy site and we couldn't use the basic awning/tarp we brought and a swirling wind made the wind breaks pretty much useless. On the plus side it is really quite flat apart for some strange undulations in some of the fields but you don't have to camp there as you can choose to pitch where you like, obeying the 6m rule.
I really liked this site for its strategic location and would stay again however as with a lot of camping grounds it is not the only game in town and I would not choose to stay here for an extended holiday as I've now been here. The overall rating of a seven is based on getting what you pay for/value for money.
If the pitch fees were a few pounds more Roundhill would probably only receive a six. That said if the fees were more then it wouldn't be in keeping with the facilities and it is really nice to have a place to go in the New Forest that doesn't cost near £30 pounds a night. If you keep your expectations in line with what you are paying you should have no regrets staying here, assuming it hasn't been raining.

Lovely site situated in the New Forest which is an ideal location as a base for cycling (road and off-road) and walking. The staff are very friendly.
Not much in the way of facilities on-site (only essentials such as toilets, showers, washing up, water and waste disposal), no electric and no activities for kids so bring your own entertainment.
Choose where you pitch as long as it's 6 metres away from other units. There are horses, donkeys and cows roaming through the site so if you don't like wild animals, this isn't the place for you.
Brokenhurst is about a mile away and has shops, bike hire, pubs etc.
Christchurch is 30 mins way and Bournemouth about 40 mins.
I will definitely stay here again as it's a lovely natural site and in an unspoiled location.

There is no denying that this is a large and beautiful site with lots of wildlife roaming around which is lovely to see. A choice of pitches whether you wish to be nestled in the trees and bushes or on the headland.
The reason for three stars is that this was a very expensive site to pitch at and by far the most expensive we have ever stayed at. I would not mind this if the facilities were up to scratch but they simply weren't. Three portable cabin style blocks for the site which are cramped and dirty. Entrance to them is a mud bath and wellies are a must. I appreciate we went during wet weather and that mud will occur but the ground approaching the blocks could not cope for this weather and had not been maintained suitably. Considering the price people are paying could they not at least lay some wood chippings or gravel to help the ground cope with wet weather/volume of visitors?? Better still, upgrade the cabins to a brick built structure. Wooden steps up to the cabin were also an accident waiting to happen.
Another niggle was the sheer amount of traffic driving around the site at all hours, mainly to stop at the toilet/shower cabins. People were actually driving from their tents to the blocks (even when the weather was dry!). This just made the roads a constant stream of traffic (which started as early as 6am) and a cause of constant concern with our young son.
Overall a nice site but would probably not return for current price until above issues have been addressed because it was not worth the price in our opinion.
