Excellent value. £4. 50pn
Slightly sloping site but plenty flat spots. Facilities are basic, no shower, but clean toilet and wash up sink. Ideal for a short stay.
Manifold Inn is right next door, with a path from the site to the back of the car park. Also on a bus route to Hartington. Loads of walking options nearby.
If you want the creature comforts this isn't for you.

Have stayed at this beautiful campsite on numerous occasions, yes it has basic facility's but the price is basic too. Very quiet, especially during the week. Great access to some really stunning views and walks. Will definitely return again but next time we intend to bring the caravan. Toilets and washing facility's were clean and the staff polite and helpful. Does get busy at weekend in peak time but we have never had any trouble. Real camping not glamping.

Location = Nice around the campsite. Location close to some good walks and 5 mins walk to Manifold Trail. Barely no traffic noise and not near any farm animals. Slight slope on the field. Very close to a pub :)
Facilities = Basic toilets/sink that offers no showers or hot water. Sink outside toilet block for washing pots etc(cold water only) and good drinking water. Also have some spare bbq which are free to use.
Overall = Basic campsite that's on a slight slope but this is expected in the area. Good size so not to populated with other tents/caravans Lovely, friendly owners. Great walks and good prices. Shame no showers or hot water

Lovely site. We enjoyed a weekend there with a group of friends. Great if you just want to get away. The weather could have been better but did not spoil our time there. There is a shop a few yards away which stocked everything you might need and the manifold visitor centre is just a little further up the road. The site is situated behind the manifold pub and is very close to the village of Hartington. Only 2 toilets for ladies and one for the men but they are very clean and well stocked. Barbecue facilities are provided but we took our own barbecue set up. Well worth a visit,

Nice site.
We enjoyed one night here.
Great if you just want to get away and is very 'back to basics'.
Only 2 toilets for ladies and one for the men but they are very clean and well stocked.
Basic Wash Up sink.
No shower Or hook up.
Some barbecue facilities are provided and also steel drums to enjoy a Campfire.
Some flat and slightly Sloping areas and also a sectioned off area for ball games which is good.
Lovely atmosphere.
There is a shop few yards away which stocked everything you might need With a lovely friendly owner.
The manifold visitor centre is just a little further up the road.
The site is situated behind the manifold pub (a little expensive to eat but nice) and is very close to the village of Hartington.
You can arrive anytime up to 9pm, just drive on and pitch and the Owner Comes later for fee of £4 Per person.

Easy enough to find. Flexibility of the owner when I rang for a one nighter was brilliant. 'You can arrive anytime up to 9pm, we don't want noise to disturb the people already camped'.
Very, very basic facilities, but no hot water is a bit of let down. Well kept though and the man collecting the fees was very friendly too. Some flat areas and gently sloping everywhere else on this grass field.
Very handy for walking as several trails pass here. The Manifold way being one of them.
The pub it is behind was extremely busy and at 7pm were fully booked for food (as were the three nearest places) on Sunday of a very nice bank holiday weekend. There are four campsites within guy-rope distance of it though so no surprise really.

Nice site, and a good, cheap getaway, at £4pppn.
Basic services (toilets, bins and a sink), but what there is was well kept and clean. The warden was around and about a lot of the time.
The Queen's Bank Holiday Sunday was an absolute washout, but the next day the sun came out and we enjoyed some nice local walks. The fields of wildflower meadow were beautiful, and worth the trip on their own.
This site is handy for the Dales, and the well-stocked local shop makes up for the lack of such a facility on the site itself. The nearby Manifold Way is great for leisure walking and cycling, and has a posh café at the Hulme End end.
I could mention what's missing from the site, compared to others, but that would be churlish when for £4, you get a nicely maintained, scenic and well placed place to pitch.

Last weekends camping before winter took us to this gem of a site. Basic facilities include spotlessly clean toilets and wash up facilities.
Scenic site in a very beautiful location adjacent to the Manifold valley. Just pitch up as no booking necessary, friendly warden and extremely reasonable rates.
Adjacent to the Manifold inn, friendly pub that does good food and some lovely ales. Local shop is very well stocked with pretty much everything.
Plenty of room at this time of year. Barbecue stands provided as no open fires. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I have just returned from this site and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It is in a beautiful location with a pub and shop a short walk away. The facilities were basic but kept clean and well stocked.
The warden was very friendly and helpful. On our first night there was a rowdy crowd which was dealt with immediately with no further problems.
There was lots of room between tents and we were able to pick our own spot.
The nightly rate was very reasonable at £4 per person. I will most definitely return with my kids.

We stayed here over the Royal Wedding weekend, which of course had the benefit of fabulous weather!
The main site was fully booked so we were in the second field on the opposite side of the road - not quite the 50 yard walk from amenities that the site owner had described it as! Didn't bother us, particularly, as we prefer the 'wild' element of an unserviced field and it meant that we could pitch next to a beautiful stream rather than right next to someone else's caravan/camper/tent! Also, lots of boys in our party so no worries re lack of on site showers/toilets!
We only visited the main site a few times to use the toilets/wash-up facilities, though these seemed a little sparse for the number of campers and there was often quite a queue - though it was a v busy, sunny bank holiday. These were clean enough, though did reflect the fact that it was busy.
For us, a near perfect site, close to a great pub (though a wedding party meant no food/beer on the Saturday night - would be wise to check in advance) and walks. We got the bus into Buxton for the day - stops just outside the main site and the driver dropped us back at our field entrance - great. Our kids (4 of them, aged 2-11) enjoyed going feral and got most of their fun from the adjacent stream, which has great stepping stones.
Not a site for those who want on-site 'club', play areas and swimming pools - just right for those of us who don't! Will return.
