6 Reviews of the Adventure Tarp

We bought this tarp to go with our Vango tay 300 tent, it was a welcome addition to our camping trip in october 2022, not yet used in anything over moderate winds but did very well in an autumn winter down pour we had for a solid day and night. Think its a tad expensive for what it is,but a good bit of kit as always from Vango.

I have used my tarp with my late model Vango Icarus 300 (the taller one) and Vango Ark 200. I invested in it for the same reason for both tents, to keep out the rain because the door slopes and it does this very well. The king pole supplied does a great job when using it with the Ark 200 and when using it on the Icarus 300 I use a longer king pole which then allows standing height. As well as keeping the rain off it makes a shady area to sit when the sun's out and also provides a well ventilated area to cook under when it's wet. The manufacturers don't recommend using it it severe weather but you'll find that if you are creative with the fitting and securing it will be ok in moderate wind but not when it's gusty. I use the second eyelet at the tent end of the tarp to secure it with some cord. Speaking of the second eyelet, this tarp can also be used with a pair of kingpoles to make a sand alone shelter/cooking canopy.

The Vango Adventure Tarp, although catering for a tunnel tent with having an elasticated end, I think it works even better on a ridge tent as it can't slip off. There is still an eyelet on the elasticated end so it fits on the king pole and can be topped with a rain cap to secure it. The blue model is a very good colour match for the Relum Giant Pearl.

ON balance I'm glad I bought this for my Lichfield Strathy tent, as it gives extra shelter over the sloping door and prevent s rain/sun coming in when you open it.You do get more room in the porch for storage and cooking.

However, the elasticated side that covers the tent hoop slips off in the slightest breeze; the rain comes through in heavy showers; the awning is not thick enough to shelter from hot sun and you have to take it down in the wind.

I bought a Vango Adventure Tarp to extend the porch on my teeny weeny Proaction River 240 tent. It has an elasticated end which you stretch over your tent's porch, then peg out guy ropes either side. It comes with a central pole and guy ropes for the other end. It made a huge difference in that we could set up our kitchen outside the tent and quite happily sit under the tarp and watch the world go by. My only worry would be high winds, but if that was the case I would take it down. A great product, even though the price seems a little steep it's worth it.

£27 seemed to me a lot of money for this item, however now I've used it I think it was money well spent. I have an Icarus 300 and it is impossible to get in and out without letting rain in, then you have to shut yourself in. The tarp goes onto the front of the tent, keeps the wet out when the door is open, and makes a great sunshade. The additional pole slot at the elasticated end allows you to tie the tarp to the tent, as otherwise, in common with other tent extensions it slips down when it gets breezy. Manufacturer doesn't recommend its use in a gale. Packs up small.A useful addition to the tent.
