1 Reviews of the Croyde 6 Classic Polycotton
By: Tracey86 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2013 Rating:
What a tent!
We agonised over the decision of which steel poled tent to buy for 'main holiday' use. The new 2013 model Croyde won the battle and wow, are we pleased that it did!
The tent is fully sewn-in, with an additional bedroom inner that is detachable and that can either be used as 1 large bedroom or have the divider zipped down and turn it into 2 smaller rooms.
The tent has a great head-height throughout and is very simple to pitch using the cross camping method. The internal tension poles are a great addition to provide more stability to the tents structure.
The front door opens almost all the way back if required and there are also 2 side doors with fly mesh, one of which has an 'eye lid' cover to protect it from the rain. We use this door for night time dashes to the loo!
The canopy on the front is a great space and we also bought the vestibule to enclose this to provide us with a fully protected kitchen/utility area which is brilliant and means we can keep the main living area of the tent tidy and free from 'stuff'. We used some extra 'C clips' to secure the vestibule onto the canopy to prevent it from slipping and found that by using the gaps in the vestibule fabric which are meant for the storm straps, we were able to thread the two side guy lines through them which meant that apart from when it was very windy we could get away without using the centre guy (which got in the way a bit!)
On our recent 11 night trip, the tent got it's first test against the elements and stood up remarkably well to; baking sunshine, pouring down rain and strong howling winds (typical British summer!) The croyde didn't flinch- we were super impressed and very thankful!
Our one niggle with the Croyde is that the front door has no fly meshing- why?! It's annoying and is the reason that we only gave it a 9/10 but to be honest, for the price of this tent compared to it's Outwell competitors- it's excellent value for money and we hope to be having happy holidays in it for years to come!

Manufacturer's Description
Polycotton version of the Croyde 6
The Croyde 6 Classic is striking from the outside and provides the most comfortable living space inside. An updated version of the popular and highly rated Croyde 6, the Croyde 6 Classic is manufactured using Kampa’s Weathershield® Airflow polycotton material replacing the polyester and substitutes the steel pole set with a rigid aluminium set, lowering weight and having an overall nicer finish and feel.
The perfect tent for families looking for the next step up from a polyester tent but are still looking for the best value for money. The front panel allows for the door to be arranged in a number of stages, from just a doorway to fully open. Whilst the material is breathable, ventilation can be found at the rear of the awning with a low level rear vent as well as a zip close front apex vent. The tent has a fully sewn in groundsheet to keep the weather and bugs out and the warmth in. Inside you’ll find a large inner that, if required, can be divided into two bedrooms by using the zipped privacy curtain. This inner tent has loads of storage, both in the interior pockets and also in the organiser built into the front. The upright front wall allows full use of all the interior space and you’ll appreciate the generous headroom that provides a spacious interior. The front of the tent is protected by the large built-in sun canopy that you can shade under on those sunny days and as it’s an integral part of the tent, it is sturdier and less fiddly to set-up unlike some add-on canopies. If not required or in stormy conditions, it can simply be stowed away.
Packed with great ideas, the Croyde 6 Classic is designed to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible.
