I bought this fantastic tent from a fellow UK Campsite camper and this is the second summer I have used it. This week we were in an open field at Burnbake Campsite in Dorset and the wind was pretty relentless the first night we were there.

The tent stood up to the gales well as I positioned it rear to the wind! It doesn't rustle like a nylon tent and despite me waking up a few times and checking that the front frame was still held up, all was well! Next morning I only had to tighten a few of the peg ropes

On our penultimate night we experienced high winds again with the fantastic addition of pelting rain! Once again, the tent performed fantastically although we did wake up to a puddle in the porch which was my fault, not the tent's!

I had kept the front wall on the front frame so not attached to the ZIG and then hadn't tucked the skirt under the loose ground sheet at the front. The ZIG edge had formed a lip so the water didn't get to us in the bedroom area.

Another oops was that I hadn't zipped up the front window properly so water came in through the mesh, which didn't help! This can't be zipped from the inside which is tricky if you forget to do it up.

We had a good few fellow campers come and take a look at our beautiful tent and we are looking forward to pitching it at least twice more this year.

We are a family of 2 adults & 3 children under 10 and have the Palamos 6 which suits us fine with added canopy and kitchen tent. We prefer to sit around outside the tent rather than inside and the children are not allowed to bring their chairs in as it would be crowded with 5 chairs in the living area while the wall is set back (which is our preferred set up). We found that to create more space for the children if stuck in the tent all day we just lowered the inner tent onto the beds and they played happily and comfortably there with little disturbance to the bedding.

With reference to the quality it really isn't a concern, the groundsheet isn't as thick as the cabanon inner tent ground sheets but it's thicker than the Outwell Montana 6 I owned very briefly. The fabric itself is similar to the Soulpad bell tent we had and goes well with the cabanon sun canopy we have adapted to fit it, there were a few loose threads but all stitching appears to be straight and correct. The zips have been mentioned by other owners but as yet we haven't had a problem, we leave the groundsheet & inner tent attached to make pitching quicker and have bought a Vango Maritsa 7 bag which is more than big enough to hold the canvas (still have separate bag for poles).

My only qualm is the front window opens from the outside, it would be nice if there was an option of buying another front wall with window that opens on the inside, I would probably use both in bad weather.

We wanted a polycotton family tent to replace our Sunncamp Vulcan 600. This tent had excellent reviews from the few who own it in the UK. After a lot of thought we took the plunge and don't regret it. The tent feels as well made as the Outwell's we saw over here with good quality polycotton and strong groundsheet. Not as 'technical' as the big brands but full of character.

I can erect the tent by myself in calm weather but it isn't easy; as you would expect with a big 6 man tent. I build up the front hoop and guy lines then use these to pull the front up before temporarily pegging at a single central point. Go inside and push up the central pole before building the central hoop frame. Then back outside to reset the front guys into their proper position. Once that is done it is a case of going around and pegging up; back corners and middle; sides in line with the frames then in fill pegs (and front wall) before tensioning. If fitting the wall in the middle, so you have a porch, remember to cross the guy lines like the instruction photos. On that note the instructions are minimal so perhaps not a tent for a beginner. With two of us it can be comfortably done in about 40 minutes.

The hoop frames are a fiddle to get together; corners and top first before fitting the legs. It just feels you have to force the tops into the corners from an unforgiving angle but it does go and, with care, you shouldn't pinch the skin on your fingers; but it does take a bit of forcing.

In strong gusting Devon winds the tent felt very stable with none of the snap and crackle of nylon tents. Position / orientation, as with any tent, will make a big difference; I wouldn't like to push our luck by having the porch facing the prevailing wind. We had no leaks despite some very heavy rain and the ZIG worked very well.

Finally, I cannot praise Obelink highly enough. They delivered when they said and their tracking system worked very well. Any queries we had were answered quickly and clearly and I was confident they knew what they were talking about. For the money I believe this is about the best tent you can buy of this type. Although the Alaska is very tempting (maybe if it had come out last year)!

The good:

Fantastic tent no more messing around with loads of poles, just one main pole and two front hoops, better than any framed or tunnel tent we have had by far. Loads of room inside. Goes up really quick and easy. Love the zip in groundsheet.

The bad:

Only concerns are the zips there not as good as the ones used in cabanon tents and the rings that attach the inner tents to the floor are made of ceramic and break really easy and cut like glass, the curtain on the front is on the outside so anyone can open it, there is Velcro on the window and it looks in the wrong place but if you fold the curtain under its self it does cover half the window sort of.

All in all a very good tent best of all the OH loves it.

After a week in it, the wife likes the tent. She says I made a good buy. What more do I need to say?

Seriously, though, it's cotton and kept us cool during the mornings. It has two small ground level meshed ventilation points and the one window is about 40% mesh. Being cotton though the five of us didn't feel that more was needed. It was 99% waterproof in a thunderstorm. It has a loop to hang a lamp up inside, EHU entry point, ZIG, movable front wall, strong steel poles, hundreds of guys and peg loops.

The front entrance is about 1.7m high, so I have to duck a bit to get in and out. Once inside, I can stand normally and there was plenty of room for a huge mess. Nothing to do with the tent, but storage after unpacking is something we really need to work on. The single inner tent has a privacy divider to split it into 2 3 person compartments, but it won't stop a kid rolling or crawling under to join mum and dad in the middle of the night!

I set it up once in the garden and despite the poles being number coded, you still need a guide to get them right. A little electricians insulation tape and they are now colour coded. Child’s play now (honestly – my 7 and 5 year olds can do it) to put the poles together.

Despite repeated attempts I haven't found a way to erect the tent single handedly, and here the kids cannot help :( Someone needs to hold the front cross piece for about 20 seconds while the main two guys are attached and pegged. After that, setup is a piece of cake. A piece of cake with lots and lots of pegs. Talking about the pegs, they seemed to be great when they came out of the bag. Two types, V shaped and normal (thick) steel wire. I bent about 10% of the pegs just setting up in the garden :( Having said that, when I dig the garden, I use a pickaxe! From putting the tent bags down on the ground to completion of the pegging takes about 45 mins. Packing up about the same – but most of that is trying to get the pegs (lots of pegs!) out of the ground again!

Delivery was reasonably fast, but the cardboard boxes fell apart somewhere in Vienna. Two heavy and very heavily taped boxes arrived later, but there was no damage to the contents. The tent easily fits back into the supplied bag, the poles and pegs into their own and finally the inner tent and groundsheets (one ZIG and one extra incase the wall is in the front position) into a third bag. All three then comfortably fitted into our doblo boot, taking about 20% of the space.

What isn't so good about it?

It leaked in some water during a storm (about a small wine glass full). I know that some came in because I didn't setup the mud flaps correctly on one side of the tent. On the other side though, it must have come in near the side window, but I didn't find where.

One of the rubber pegging loops fell off when I put some tension on it to peg it.

There is velcro on the front window, but I can't figure out what it is there for. Unless it has been put onto the wrong side of the window cover.

Stronger pegs are needed and probably stronger front guys – if either of these guys or pegs fail, the tent will fall down.

Its got pegs, lots of pegs, if you don't like pegging, get a caravan!

ZIG does not mean bug (and certainly not ant) proof. We've learnt that all food needs to be in sealed containers! The ants found the sugar :(

Fantastic tent. Lovely canvas and very spacious living area with wall at front. Bought Cabanon side panels to give a porch when wall at front and I am really happy with the fit and colour. Took about half an hour to pitch the first time but reckon we will easily be able to reduce the pitching time. The separate inner tents were great and will be very advantageous for early/late season.

What can I say about this tent except brilliant!

Having only used Cabanons before I was a bit worried about the quality,but I needn't have been,maybe not quite as heavy duty but certainly not far off.

The moveable front wall was fantastic,very quick and easy to move,we had lots of sunshine and it was great not to have to faff around with tarps or canopy's.I was a bit concerned that it had two bedrooms rather than one large one but have found it no problem,use both when sleeping on sims using the second one for storage,or if we take the carp beds we don't bother with the inners at all and the space is great.

To sum up this is a lovely tent made even better by the,in my view,very reasonable price
