I have loved my Cantera tent ever since my friends and family gave me enough birthday pennies to buy a brand new one in April 2007. Every year it is used once or twice for a week at a time. It goes up easily and comes down even quicker. Yes its an 'innards up first' tent but, luckily I've not been challenged to put it up in torrential rain. The reason I am writing this is my wonderful tent came into its own TWICE this camp. Pitched in the wonderful Manor Farm Campsite, Cromer, we had a typical bank holiday amber weather warning. Gales, driven rain, you can picture the day. As we were a group of mums (dads were left at home!) we had fifteen kids from 11-20 with us. Monday was a birthday for the oldest lad so they all sat on camp chairs around my 6ft camp table in the main living room of my Cantera. Bit squished, but I did have my shelves along one wall and the damp towels hanging up too. The 5 mums joined them briefly to sing happy birthday. It was fab. The second notable tent moment was as we slept thoroughly in our super sturdy tent as the rest of the campsite was ravaged and tossed by the winds and rains. We got up in a dry, sturdy tent to observe the chaos that had happened outside. I was possibly considering upgrading my tent in the next few years as my 18 and 16 year old lads have outgrown the bedroom pod, my two girls are growing too. But I think I will stick with my palace as I have (honestly) yet to find a better one. Thanks Aztec for your wonderful design and to IBEX camping of Little Paxton, Cambs for persuading me to invest in this tent back in 2007. Happy camping indeed.

Fantastic. The size of this tent and the shape caused me to call it Atlantis (see The Spy Who Loved Me for details). Easy to pitch, stake inner down, insert poles, raise inner, hook up poles. Put outer over, align, stake, guy. Easily big enough for a family of 4-6, in the bedrooms, supposedly for 9 but would need to be very close friends! The main entrance we used as a kitchen. Has facility to suspend a light in the main living area along with velcro strips to secure flex. Never let in any water once the outer was on, tested in Bodmin downpours too!

The heat was also intense, very easy to get warm once in, we used 2 bed rooms and had the third as the toilet. Feeding electrical wires in is easy dur to the zips in the groundsheet. The mesh panel doors are fantastic at letting air in and keeping mossies out!

I thoroughly recommend this tent to anybody looking for a good touring tent that has plenty of room and is well designed. The lifetime pole guarantee is fantastic and is honoured (had a crack replaced free of charge). Aztec look after their customers and if in the market buy Aztec. It wil be a worthwhile investment that will last you many years.

Great tent, easy to put up and take down. It fits into a suitcase style bag and always goes back in without having to squash it and roll it ten times to make it fit.

Each pod will sleep 3 on small airbeds but more suitable for 2 in a pod. The Sewn in groundsheet means that the living area can be used to sleep in and we always use it to sleep in. We have comfortable slept upto 12 people in the tent on a few occasions!

The tent doesn't shift in strong wind nor does it leak in heavy rain. It has taken many batterings from the British weather and still perfect. We have had this tent for 4 years now and hope to have it for many more.

The children and my wife wanted a SIG (sewn in groundsheet) as they were fed up with draughts and bugs in our current Vango TBS Vista tent.

This tent was on a clearance sale and it had a SIG,seperate bed pods for the kids and is double walled (Inner tent + flysheet). This tent has been on many trips to west wales and has been through a number of big storms and been solid, dry and cosy.

The inner is put up first which is a 2 person job. Then the flysheet is pulled over the inner. This is the hard bit to get the centre of the flysheet to position over the center of the inner. Normally the kids stand inside say 'left , back forward ' until it matches. This is the key step and if not done (we learnt the hard way )the flysheet will be to short or to long on one side. Once done the flysheet is peged out and the tunnel (see plan) is erected. We now have the pitching time down to about 1hr to 1.5 hours. So its not a weekend away tent.

This constructions makes for a very sturdy tent and the double wall means that late at night our blackcat heater makes it a snug place to sit,play cards and chat.

The bed pods fit a double blow up mattress fine with space for bags at the head or foot. It may be rated 9 person but I would say 2 people per pod is fine with a double mattress if you need nore then you would have to use sleeping mats. We have had 8 people (2 each pod and 2 sleeping in the main living space.

We normally use 2 pods for sleeping and the third for bags etc keeping the main area free and tidy.

The tent has the main tunnel door and 2 more in the remaining sides (see plan). They all have no-see-em mesh doors which keeps the bugs out allows air in. Nice on hot days (very useful when we were in France).

This tent is well made,has not let any rain in over the years, and I would recommend you look at this tent compared to a Vango Diablo (same shape and size) and make your choice. I may look at the 2009 model and see if they have made a great tent into a fantastic one.

Brilliant tent we have got it down to a fine art now and have really enjoyed using our 'Camping House' as our girls call it ;0)

We have a room so do the kids and we use the spare for toilet and general dumping ground all in all a very good tent!

Really happy with this tent! Although alleged a 9 berth the three bedrooms will only fit two comfortably. Why would three people share a bedroom, not my kind of holiday. The tent was straight forward to erect, although the poles need to be inserted fully at the ferrules as the plastic nicks on the ferrule. The tension adjustment on the pole sleeves make a really god shape to the tent. Once erected the tent was a pleasure to stay in, the headheight is amazing in the living area. Three doors, all with mesh, mean ventilation on a warm day is excellent. When in Spain we had a huge thunderstorm and the tent withstood a battering superbly. At one point the whole floor was floating in six inches of water. If you stood at one end the other end of the floor rippled like a waterbed. But there was no sign of water seeping through the SIG. Would recommend this tent 100%

We bought this tent in Jan 07 and it is superb, we originally looked at the 12 but decided it was too big so opted for the 9 man instead.

It has a very large living area, which is great, cos when it does rain we have had up to 11 kids in ours watching a DVD. The 3 pods are great, we use one and put 3 kids in the other whilst using the other as a walk in wardrobe / changing / store room.

We have got it down to putting in up in 1 hour and down about the same, the first time we almost divorced over it, due to being such novices. We are away a few times this year so I am looking forward to sleeping in my 2nd home.

Great tent,cosy, dry in heavy downpours. No condensation due to it being of inner and flysheet construction. Extremely spacious living area. Although 9 berth, perfectly comfortable sleeping 6, 2 persons in each bedroom pod on double air-beds. Having 3 doors around the tent is extremely useful, can open them up to keep the tent cool in hot weather, all doors have insect mesh. Great family tent.
