2 Reviews of the Typhoon 1000
By: Bigjez Reason: I've used one Made in: 2007 Rating:
I have a victory 600, my brother has bought one of these as he needs 8 to sleep and asked me to try his last weekend. I have put 2007 on when it was built but have no idea, his was new when he got it last month
He bought it from a dealer online and we have been absolutely amazed at the value. He paid just over £300 and has got a great tent for it.
Having considered Royal Vango and gelert he went for this based on my tent and the spec, we are so glad he did.
The bedrooms divide up so can be very flexible, there are 4 doors, I'll count the windows but suffice to say there are loads and the porch area was an excellent size for his gang to have a cooker running. Venting on this weekend of great sun was easy, as was getting airflow mid day which simply required strategic opening of a door/window combination.
Having read review 1 poles were no problem and we found during the process of putting it up that this really is a pretty quick tent,2 of us did it in 40 minutes but one person could do it easily too.
Most tents at the price this was are very average and having recently converted to sunncamp last year from Vango it seems they are all a step up. We have yet to try it in a week long camp but with such a high spec we are very optimistic!
The poles which sunncamp put so much store by are much lighter in weight than galss but seem incredibly strong.
The tent is discontinued but there are a few about so take my advice and convert to suncamp

By: SmilerUK Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2006 Rating:
This tent proved to be everything we thought it would be. On the hot days we were able to open up the four main doors plus the additional 8 mesh windows in the inner to create a nice breeze through the whole thing.
As it got cooler during the evening we slowly zipped it all up leaving just the front door and porch door open. We ended up sitting in front of the porch, then sitting in the porch with the porch door open, then in the porch with the door closed looking out through the huge windows, then into the main living area, with the mesh front door closed, still able to look out through the porch windows, excellent.
We slept in the west end so the sun didn't wake us up too early, (yeh right), but was warmed by the setting sun in the evening. The east end was where we kept all our clothes and stuff leaving the main living area totally open for us to sit and relax in.
On Sunday there was a massive thunderstorm and cloudburst and the tent did not have a single drop of water anywhere in the inside, very impressive.
What we did find as a huge bonus was the area between the fly and the inner at both ends, and at the back where they have put an additional storage area.
The SIG was a complete revelation to us as this is the first one, don't think I'll be going back to non-SIG anytime.
The amount of headroom I had, being 6'3' was also magic as I did not have to bend down every 2 steps like I used to with the Venus 5.
So all in all, a very successful first time out, however.
On about the third day, I noticed the left hand front porch pole was shorter than the one on the right. On taking the tent down we found 8 long poles and 4 short ones. The instructions did not mention anything about different pole lengths and they could go either in the porch, or at the ends of the bedrooms.
I even rang Sunncamp, who didn't know either but on looking at it again in the garden I think they must all go in the porch as these are at a slightly less of an angle then the bedroom ones. Very, very minor point which does not detract from what a great tent we think this is.
