My Partner and I bought the Coleman x5 tent for our first camping experience in 2009 where we spent a week in the New Forest. We had 2 practice runs putting the tent up in the garden prior to our holiday and once we was on site it only took about 45 minutes to get the tent up. At the time I was also 5 months pregnant! For a 5 man tent I would say it is rather small but it was ok for 2 adults and 1 Husky! Thinking back now though I wish we had bought a tent with a larger living area as we was a bit squashed once you got the chairs, table and kitchen stand in. Still had a great holiday!

Down sized to this and once up it is a fantastic space, open and airy. Unfortunately it is difficult to pitch, takes about an hour and definitely needs flat ground as we found after pitched on an uneven surface which made the edges rip under the pressure where the poles go in at several places so overall unhappy really.

I regret the day I purchased this tent, it is a total nightmare to pitch. We though we must be doing something wrong at first and felt sure we would get better. We didnt. It is very heavy to rear whilst pitching, its a pain having so many colour coded(well coloured tape that rubs off)poles to insert. You need a very flat pitch and perfect weather to stand a chance. We gave this tent 5 chances in which it ripped and snapped a couple of rods.

Once pitched the tent is spacious and sturdy but spoilt by the length of time taken to pitch.

We bought this last year after trading in our outwell, the outwell was just too big. This is a great family of 4 tent. Easy-ish too put up and down with colour coding and has a sewn in ground sheet another big plus point. It big but not too big and very sturdy when up. Our first one was faulty but we returned it without any problems and the 2nd one was just great.

Bought this tent after many hours of soul searching as it was our first purchase.

Very sturdy tent which withheld the rather bad storms that we had on our last camping trip.

I really like the vents at the back of the tent to help let air circulate when closed up. It is light and airy even when all doors are closed due to the amount of windows. The zip on mats at all the entrance were a must when the site is muddy and what a good idea to be able to rearrange the large one depending upon which door you are using.

We have only used it twice and are still struggling a little to pitch it quickly, but I am sure it will get better.

I bought this as our first foray into the world of camping. Great tent once pitched, and through trial and error we have managed to work out a pretty reasonable method for setting up, although you still need a couple of hours to get everything right, pegged out and the internals fitted. Nice and spacious, especially for the 2 of us, and even better since we bought the Aztec Utility tent to store all the cooking equipment. Just spent 2 weeks going down through France and into the Alps - stayed dry at all times, even with the best thunder storms the Alps could muster.

To summarise, great tent, good size only wish it was easier to pitch

This is a great tent! There is only the 2 of us, so can take a while to pitch, but its worth it. The tent is of a very strong construction with plenty of good features.

Coleman windbreaks attach to the tent - these are another good purchase.

We haven't used the fan attachment, but this is said to be useless.

RRP is £399 but look for dealer deals, we paid £200 and got 2 chairs included.

I bought this tent as a 'first bash' into camping with my family. It is a great size for the four of us and enable us to stand up without scraping our heads on the roof. Quite easy to put up, but the poles are heavy due to being steel rather than aluminium, although the frame is very strong and stands up well in bad weather.
