10 Reviews of the Large Canopy
By: Warbis66 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2009 Rating:
I love my canopy, it is fantastic, and I wont have a bad word said against it!
Great extra space, need to make sure properly erected otherwise does feel like a wind tunnel, but if you put it up properly its fab.
We have had a great deal of use out of this and think for the money it was fab investment, cant wait to get it out again for this season.

Great piece of kit - I bought it very cheaply from Ebay to use on My Nevada 3 and it works like a dream. Great for extending the space in a small tent - I had all the cooking stuff under it and it was very stable and secure. Also prevented ingress of water into the sloping door of my tent and provides a great shaded/sheltered sitting area. Very easy to pitch solo although you need to tweak the elasticated back section for a good fit.

Bought for half price from e-bay. Chosen as we couldn't get the Coleman tent awning. All sold out, for our Coleman Matrix X6. The door to our tent leans back, so if and when it rains, the water puddles at the entrance. This awning fits our coleman perfectly, and at the moment it has been erected in our garden and it's raining and blowing a bit.So far so good. Bit of a struggle getting the last pole over the pin. With the ring and pin system. Otherwise good piece of kit and very happy with it. Will put piccie up when we get the chance to use it camping.Next year probably! :(

We bought one to create some extra space for our Icarus 500. Firstly It is exactly what its called Large sun Canopy it will provide some shelter from light rain but if the winds is blowing most things underneath will end up wet.
It was fairly easy to pitch although fitting the elasticated end over the the tent was a bit of a pain and did keep popping off.
Overall it make a good shelter from the wind and sun and ideal place to keep yr tables / chairs (if you don't mind them getting a bit wet. Also good area to use before entering the tent to take off wet shoes/clothes etc.

This canopy is brilliant, bought one for my venture 500, used it for the first time over the weekend, it doubles the living area and was put to test with heavy rain and quite windy conditions, handled everything superbly and I think it helps stabilise the tent in wind. Highly recommended.

I bought one of these to use with my vango orchy 400 and it also as a bonus fit my outwell Nevada xl tent too! Excellent for creating that bit extra space for your cooker and table. Was a good fit not too big a gap between tent and canopy and even withstood very heavy rains and winds without any problems. On the Nevada we just added some extra long guys and threw them over the tent to hold it on which worked a treat. Love the big windows in it as you can be nosy at people while your out of the elements. Have upgraded to the new one since with the door review to follow when they add it to the list.

We bought one of these to go on the front of our Royal Biarritz 6 and it fits really well. We always guy it with Delta pegs and have not had a problem with it falling down, even on a very windy site on the top of a hill. The only thing to come loose was the elasticated bit which attaches to the tent but it is easy enough to slip back over the pole. It's a great space to put a picnic table and a cooker when not in use. Fab for being outside when it's a bit breezy or raining. And we managed to get it back in the bag with no problems!

I have used the canopy on my tunnel tent, we were right on the coast on an extremely windy weekend. The canopy stood up to the wind and was brilliant for cooking outside in or just watching the world go by. Would recommend this to everyone.

Contrary to previous post, I find this canopy great I wouldn't leave home without it, even though some pitches aren't big enough for the tent never mind the canopy as well.
But putting it up is a doddle, maybe the guy ropes weren't properly positioned or taut enough on prev post but I always camp near the coast and we all know how windy it is there,it blows but only ever had the elastic come of the porch bit once and it still stays up.
Convenient for leaving outside table and chairs there overnight instead of bringing them all in and especially good when its pouring down and you can still stand outside with a brew in your hand watching everyone get wet running to the toilet in a morning.

The Large vango canopy was great at first but even the slightest bit of wind had it blowing in all directions.
Good to create extra space if you are camping in a place with excellent shelter e.G in the middle of a forest. Otherwise you will have to take it down everytime you want to leave your tent or it may not be there when you get back.
Takes two to hold and attach it but is farely straight forward.
Also I wouldn't recommend leaving it attached to your tent over night as it rubs against the roof of your tent causing a rather anoying noise!
A good buy considering how cheap they are but not if you want a stress free camping trip!
We have never managed to get it back in the bag it came with, with the poles!
