Love this tent, Plenty of room, doesn't leak. Fully sewn in groundsheet and choices of door. Sturdy and looks good.Easy and quick to put up, good head height. Only downside is weighs a ton, and could do with some better fastening at front door as the current toggle system breaches the security against wind, and more importantly - spiders.

Had this tent for 4 years and have used a lot . This is a great tent for a couple we have used this in some really bad weather and it's always held up strong when other tents around us have failed.

A second side door and some extra vents would be good but overall a great tent and very east to pitch.

Lovely little tent, says five berth, but better as a four, easy to erect, just three poles! bedroom is one large room with that canvas divider that all the tents seem to have nowadays!Nice big living area. Nice zipped hole on one side for poking your electric cable through, no fly screens on doors though, so you have to have doors open or closed. Held up well during some horrific wind and rain! This is a good little tent and we use it as our weekend awayer!

This is a great tent, we used to have a Lichfield Cascade 6XL which was just too big for my husband, myself and our Weimaraner, we have camped in some horrendous conditions (weather wise) and this tent has kept us lovely and cosy, I would recommend this tent to anyone it is easy to erect, sturdy in snow, hail, wind, rain. We also have the Gelert footprint I would suggest everyone gets a footprint for their tent it just keeps the bottom of your tent clean and adds protection from stones, etc. , I agree with the review above a few more vents would be good.

I bought this tent as an ex-display model, pitched indoors- with the plan of using it as a weekend tent. I wanted something that I could put up on my own without my husband if I took our children away alone or with other mums/kids, as our regular tent is a lot bigger/heavier and definitely needs two people to erect.

We have ended up using this tent for family weekends with all four of us and I am very pleased with my purchase (especially as it was only £40!)

It IS easy to put up and I tried it alone in the garden first, and would say that two people make the pegging out quicker but other than that its really really simple and doing it on your own is a doddle. I'm 5ft 7 so not especially tall and it was fine, took about fifteen minutes to get it standing and then additional time pegging out and adjusting.

Three poles and you're done. The channels to run the poles through aren't the easiest, but once you have the knack (thread as much onto the first section of ple as you can, push along and repeat until done) it's really quick.

Things I like about it:

It's light and doesn't take up much room in the car

Easy to put up

Good head height (even for 6ft 2 husband)

Sewn in groundsheet

Handy storage pockets in bedrooms and living area

Useful little pouches behind bedroom doors to stuff the doors themselves into if you want to keep them open

Electrical cable fastenings (velcro loops up one side and along roof so you can put a light up and hang from middle)

Front part of groundsheet in doorway rises up so that door flaps down over the top- good for keeping rain out

Additional side door so you can choose which to use

Waterproof even in really heavy thunder and lightening downpour/cloudburst

Decent sized living area, fit four chairs in easily with additional camping stuff

Things I'd improve:

More windows

Better vents (only one in the back behind bedroom)

Stronger zips on bedroom doors (was scared to do them up as they looked like they might rip under tension)

Also, it is advertised as a five man but I think a four man is more realistic.

As the tent I bought did not come with a groundsheet or any accessories (not even a bag) I have done some research and discovered that the Hi Gear Rock 5 is practically identical- so the groundsheet/carpet and front porch extension all fit. I have the groundsheet and can vouch for that but have yet to buy the other two.

All in all an excellent family tent, even at the regular price. We are even considering leaving our bigger tent at home and taking this one for our main family holiday as it is so easy to pitch and pleasant to be in. Only reason I've marked it down is because the bedroom door zips feel a bit flimsy (although this just could be how we pegged it out under tension, we're not experienced campers) and there are only two small windows.

This tent is really good value. It is well made ( but see below) and has plenty of room for my wife and I plus our grandchild of 6yrs old. I like the headroom and the way you can use the doors to suit the arrangement of the inside giving you flexibility of use. So far it has proved to be completely waterproof and comfortable to sleep in and stable in high winds. The tent has three sturdy poles which are difficult to secure onto the bottom fixing when under tension. You need fair amount of strength to locate the bottom of the pole to the lower pin. The poles also split in a few places after only a few uses and I have duck taped them but expect to renew them this year. Also the channels where the poles run have worn with small holes but no rips or tears. So both the poles and the fabric pole channels need to be upgraded to make this tent score higher. However, the rest of the tent is very good.

I bought this tent from B&Q in the sale for £50 as I liked how you could walk in and not crawl in like other tents i've owned. Before using the tent I also went out and bought the carpet and footprint.

This is a all in one pitch and I managed to do it myself without to much problems. I did find I had to use allot of force to get the poles up but I have to say once it was up was quite stable. The next problem I saw was was the dividing curtain in the bedroom. As I was sharing the tent with a guy I had only just met (offered a space to a fellow paintballer) it wasn't very good at all and felt more like a hanging sheet rather than a curtain (wasn't many fixing points and had a gap all the way round).

In a whole the tent was very good for the price and had quite a bit of room that would be great for just a camping trip but I was using it for a paintball weekend so we had allot of camping and paintball gear. Just glad I also took a sunncamp dayroom for the extra room and somewhere to sit as it's quite dark inside. I also found it odd that the front door didn't come with poles to hold it up and have since bought some. The tent did hold up well to quite strong wind and the carpet and footprint really do make the tent allot better.

We bought one of these at the beginning of the year from Camping & General on Canvey Island at a reduced price because Gelert were bringing out a new model. We were upgrading from the Vango Venture 500 as we wanted something slightly roomier. We also opted for the footprint and carpet but bought those elsewhere along with the Vango Icarus canopy as suggested by Tonyb21. I think most of the reviews here cover most of our experiences over the season.

The tension of the poles is very high and the straps need to be loosened right off before trying to put the tent up. We put this up in quite high winds and once up the tent was very stable. It has faired very well in heavy rain with only one small leak at the bottom of the side door LHS. Easily remedied with waterproofing spray.

The canopy is almost a perfect fit and at £35.00 much cheaper than the new Gelert alternatives. The extra height is welcome and the sleeping area/living area very large compared to similar sized alternatives. Comments about places to hang stuff I agree with, especially for lamps etc. The pitch in one system is great and makes for extra stability. The pockets in the middle of the main area are also very handy.

All in all a good tent with some good new ideas.

We recently took this tent for it's first weeks holiday. It doesn't really take that long to put up.The first thing I noticed was the amount of tension required to get the poles located so will be getting repair kit before the next trip. The front door, bottom two fastening toggles were both about 6' out of alignment, so couldn't fully secure the door( which was a pain with the amount of wind we had) Rather than take it back and risk finding more problems with another tent. I just cut them off and re-sewn them where they should have been placed on the groundsheet side. Overall though this served us well and coped well with high winds, I love the height of this tent as well. Just pre-erect the tent before you go away for your jollies
