Forest View Campsite & Chambre d’Hote is a delightful rural, small campsite, set in the south east corner of Lower Normandy in the unspoilt and largely undiscovered Perche. Only 2.5 hours from Caen or Le Havre and 3.5 hours from Calais, it’s an easy drive, but far enough South to benefit from great weather and traditional French countryside. Forest View is a haven of peace and tranquillity. It has just 25 beautiful, large pitches set in 7.5 acres with a pretty Lake at its centre. It’s a place to rest and relax, to find yourself and each other again, to meet old friends and make new ones, to recharge your batteries and plan for the future…all that, while sitting in the sun, reading something funny or enlightening, eating great food, exploring new places, walking, running, cycling, fishing, sewing….whatever you like to do to make your holiday special for you. To preserve the quiet atmosphere there is a 2 night minimum stay throughout the year.
There are a variety of pitches tailored to your requirements – dedicated Motorhome Pitches, stunning Lakeside and Lakeview Pitches for adults only with Caravans, Tents or small Campervans; and sunny, open Orchard Pitches for families.
There’s a spacious, purpose built shower and toilet block with separate ladies and gents, both with 3 large showers and plenty of hot water, and 3 toilets. Plus, of course, all the facilities you’d want – Motorhome Service Point, Chemical Toilet Disposal, Fresh Water Taps, Washing Up and Hand Washing Sinks, Washing Machine, and free Wifi in the Restaurant Garden.
The campsite has a traditional farmhouse Restaurant, Bar and Garden Terrace. Three evenings a week there is a 2 course Plat du Jour offering a wide variety of exceptional home-made European and British dishes. This is the ideal opportunity for those on site to get together and share their stories, while someone else does the cooking. But you do need to book early, as space is limited and they are very popular.
For the owners, Peter & Sarah, it has been their home for the last 8 years, and for many of their clients Forest View has become a very special place too, and that’s why they come back again and again. Indeed, a growing number of clients store their caravans at Forest View and visit several times throughout the year taking advantage of their unique FREE caravan storage offer too.
Every week there are wonderful markets selling local produce and Vide Greniers where you can wander through stalls of French brocante and bric-a-brac. For cyclists and ramblers, the campsite borders the Forest du Saussay and is near to the Voie Verte – a network of level, well prepared, traffic free cycling and walking tracks linking Mont St Michel to Paris. From the campsite you are less than an hour from Le Mans, home of the famous 24 hour race or Chatres with its fantastic Cathedral; and only an hour and a half from Paris if you fancy a trip to Versailles or the Eifel Tower.
That said, you might just want to sit by the Lake and watch the reflections in the water, or have a glass of wine in the Orchard as the sun-sets, and leave exploring for your next visit, because once you’ve been to Forest View for the first time, you’ll definitely want to come back, check out the reviews right here….
