CamperKing VW ID Buzz Campervan

Since its launch in 2022, the ID. Buzz has been living up to its name and there's also a great deal of excitement about the prospect of a campervan based on the platform, which is designed to evoke the iconic shape of the much-loved VW Transporters of old. With a design that evokes the iconic looks of VW’s T1 and T2 ‘splitty’ and ‘bay window’ campervans but equipped with cutting-edge technology, the ID. Buzz brings innovation to VW campervans.

CamperKing, the Warwickshire-based campervan manufacturer is awaiting imminent delivery of a number of ID. Buzz vehicles to commence development of an electric campervan based on the platform.

The prospective campervan would include the same mod cons as all CamperKing conversions; cooking facilities, an onboard fresh water tank, comfortable double beds including one in a pop-top roof, a heating option and plenty of storage.

With plenty of interior space and up to 258 miles of electric range, the ID. Buzz boasts the latest EV technology including fast charging at up to 170kW, meaning the 77kWh battery can be replenished to 80% capacity in around 30 minutes.

The VW ID. Buzz’s equivalent maximum output of 204 PS can accelerate the electric vehicle from 0 to 62mph in 10.2 seconds. Whilst the agile ability of the vehicle provides it with a small turning circle of just 11.1 metres, meaning that the vehicle can easily be steered around everywhere from narrow city streets to the tightest of campsite pitches.

Volkswagen has launched two versions of the Buzz, the passenger-carrying Style and the panel van Cargo.

The VW ID. Buzz Cargo is the version of the ID. Buzz CamperKing will be using as the base vehicle for a VW ID. Buzz campervan. This is currently available in two trim levels, the ID. Buzz Cargo Commerce and the ID. BUZZ Cargo Commerce Plus. Discover the highlight features of these vehicles below:

ID. Buzz Cargo Commerce highlight features

  • Cruise control system with speed limiter and Intelligent Speed Assist
  • Heated driver’s seat
  • App-Connect incl. App-Connect Wireless for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Anti-theft alarm system, interior monitoring, backup horn, and towing protection

ID. Buzz Cargo Commerce Plus highlight features

  • Adaptive Cruise Control ACC stop & go with speed limiter
  • App-Connect incl. App-Connect Wireless for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • ‘Discover Pro’ navigation system with 10″ screen
  • Heated windscreen
  • Intelligent Park Assist
  • Rear view camera

The vehicle is already winning awards. The model took ‘Best Medium Electric Van’ at this year’s Driving Electric Awards 2023, with Editor, Richard Ingram, praising the vehicle for its “retro styling”, paired with the strong range and practical load bay.

Costs a fortune and they didn't even fit wipers for right hand drive, just as they didn't with the ID3.

No thanks.

Ask me again when there is a hydrogen powered vehicle in general use as even JCB is going down this road as they found Electric propulsion is not viable for the tractors diggers and everything else they build, and they are not the only vehicle producer going down the hydrogen route.

When everyone has brought electric vehicles, then they will say hydrogen vehicles are better for the environment and force us to buy those.
