How do they work?
The range of cool boxes are the most insulated cooler today and due to the amount of insulation used, will retain heat as well as cold. You can cool the box using ice, freezer packs or ice replacement products.
Reduce the temperature within the cooler by adding ice three hours or so before loading it with the intended contents. As the ice melts to initially cool the container, you need to empty the water to allow room for more ice. The longer the cooling down period the lower the temperature will be before use. Load the cooler with as much ice as possible. Pre-cooling the intended contents will help in maximising ice retention.
Once the cooler is in use you do not empty the cold water (more energy is required to cool than to maintain cold water). The makers claim in outside temperatures of upto 90ºF Icey-Tek coolers will still retain the temperature needed for ice for 10 days or more!
This makes them perfect for camping or caravanning trips were you have no 12V or mains power, but need to keep food and drink fresh and cold for days. Just cool the box before you leave, and enjoy the benefits whilst away. They are also perfect for the fisherman who wants to keep his catch, or bait fresh.
You can also purchase an optional custom made cushion which transfoms the box into a comfortable seat, ideal for creating additional seating in your awning, tent, boat, your back garden or just at a picnic!
Just came back from 12 days camping, and thought I would let you all know how we went on with the new cool box we purchased through UKCampsite.co.uk. It stated that it would last up to 10 days without putting extra ice in it. And I can honestly say it actually works, it is still in the garden now with the cans in we brought back and they are still very very cold. All I can say is that as long as you follow instructions correctly and pre cool the box 2 days before you go on your trip you cannot go wrong.
We have been camping for many years without hook up and have been looking for the right cool box, and we have definatly found it in the ICEY TEK ....
