Based on the market-leading, award-winning Magellan®
RoadMate™ 700, the Magellan RoadMate 760 today delivers new navigation
capabilities including the industry’s first text-to-speech voice guidance,
SmartDetour™ for re-routing around traffic and customized POI alerts, useful
for warning drivers about upcoming selected stores or even speed traps.
The Magellan RoadMate 760 builds on the unparalleled ease-of-use of the
Magellan RoadMate family with the SayWhere™ text-to-speech voice guidance
feature, an industry first that minimizes the driver’s need to look at the
unit for directions by adding street names to the voice guidance.
In addition to other new capabilities, now drivers can integrate custom POIs,
including speed trap locations currently popular on the Internet, and
program an audio alert function. The user can download up to 1 Million
custom POIs from any user group website that publishes files in one of seven
compatible formats, organize them into files and categories and set an alarm
for each category to alert the driver when he approaches a POI from that
category.
Drivers will also benefit from the system’s built-in SmartDetour feature,
which gives them the control to navigate around traffic jams and
construction delays. When the vehicle is stopped en route for a
driver-determined length of time, a detour icon appears on the screen,
giving the driver the option to choose from other routes offered by the
system.

unit. “The Magellan RoadMate 760 is just one more example of our objective
to cater to the needs of all drivers, putting them more in control while on
the road.Multi-Destination Routing Makes a Long Day of Driving a Snap
Those who travel to numerous destinations in one day will appreciate the
Multi-Destination Routing function. Up to 20 destinations can be entered for
one trip, and 20 trips can be saved per user for future use. With new Route
Optimization the Magellan RoadMate 760 can automatically sort multiple
destinations by shortest distance to find the best route between addresses.
Especially useful for mobile professionals, this feature can also come in
handy for vacationers taking a driving tour of wineries, historical
landmarks, museums or other attractions. |

Drivers can also route to their most frequent destination instantly with the
touch of a Home button located on the main menu screen.
Other features introduced today in the Magellan RoadMate 760 include:
- Expanded coverage with 27 European countries and North America on its
20 GB hard drive,
- A choice of 12 languages, all with male or female voices, including:
US-English, UK-English, French, German, Italian, Castilian Spanish, Dutch,
Portuguese, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish,
- An automatic night mode that prompts the map display to automatically
switch between day and night screens for optimum viewing,
- Automatic volume control that increases the volume when the vehicle is
traveling over 45 mph,
- Show Destination on Map button allows the consumer to view the
destination on a map before routing to give a clearer view of where he is
headed,
- Password protection that allows each user to set a unique password,
- An improved windshield mount featuring a larger suction cup and swivel
head.
