The UKCampsite.co.uk was offered the chance to test the Alpkit
range of pegs, the Tikes and the Spikes!
If you have ever been to a site where the ground is just too hard, you would
normally simply use some rock pegs to secure your tent or awning in place.
This is all well and good until you decide it is time to pack up and you
start to try and remove the rock pegs from the ground, and realise you
either need to be the Worlds strongest man or sacrifice your pegs and leave
them behind!Well this range of two new styles of rock pegs from Alpkit
could be the solution you are after.
Tike (x10) £15.00
The Tike is a new lightweight V peg, very lightweight but extremely
strong and durable. The Tike's come in packs of 10, weigh just 13g / peg and
are made from titanium offering superb strength qualities. The are 16cm in
length and just 1.4cm wide.
Spike (x6) £14.99
The spikes are a strong and durable aluminium rock peg that is available
in packs of six. They are made from 7075 aluminium, are 23cm long and weigh
33g / peg , making them not the lightest, but very strong. They are
just 0.7cm in diameter.
What did we think?
A couple of great peg designs that do the job of holding your tent or awning in
place, they are both strong and durable and can break into a wide variety of
hard ground. The biggest benefit we found was the cord attached to
each of the pegs, this made it so easy to extract the pegs from the ground,
simply hook another peg through the string or attach your peg puller and
away you go. No leaving the pegs behind, no struggling to get the peg
puller under the top of the peg to pull it out, problem solved. The bright colour of the Spikes makes them easy to find and stand out
from the rest.
