LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, Manchester
|
Located in Barton Square, at The Trafford Centre in Manchester, the
LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is made up of a series of interactive
features to immerse kids into a world where their imagination can run wild
with creative inspiration at every turn. The Centre not only provides fun
for LEGO fans young and old, but fantastic educational benefits too.
Newest to the attraction is the pop-up walk-through LEGO Star Wars™
MINILAND Model Display which offers an intergalactic immersion into the
sights and sounds of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace.
From the rolling hills of Naboo, with its ancient domed city and cascading
waterfalls, to the treacherous terrain of the desert planet of Tattooine,
the incredible landscapes will be recreated using LEGO bricks.
Plus built-in games will offer hands on fun for even the youngest of
Padawans who can take part in a thrilling Podrace with the young Anakin
Skywalker and help defeat the evil Droid Army in the ‘Droid Destruction’
game.
The display is made up of over 250,000 LEGO bricks, is home to 2000 LEGO
Star Wars minigures and took 2,000 man hours to create! It will be open to
the public from Friday 1 February until Sunday 2 June.
The attraction also features a bespoke LEGO Friends area and LEGO City
Forest Pursuit Driving Adventure. Since its launch in March 2012 the LEGO
City Forest Pursuit Driving Adventure has become a firm favourite with
guests, including celebrity visitor Ben Fogle. The driving ride, which is
complete with battery powered LEGO Jeeps guests can drive for themselves, is
just for the kids - sorry mum and dad! It sees them pursue the bad guys
through the forest to bring peace and justice to LEGO City once again.
Expect an exploding mine, helicopters over head and maybe even a bear or
two!
Guests can also climb aboard their chariot on Kingdom Quest and set off on
the quest to defeat the skeletons, vanquish the trolls, and free the
captured princess. Chariots come equipped with mounted laser guns to help
beat the trolls and skeletons as they appear.
The 4D cinema shows two action packed films including the latest LEGO
favourite Clutch Powers. Viewers get to play an essential character in the
action adventures that unfold before their eyes as they experience whatever
happens to the cinematic heroes - including wind, snow and rain.
In March 2013 the cinema will be welcoming The Legends of Chima 4D. The all
new 12 minute animated 4D film, complete with high impact special effects,
will immerse audiences in the fantastical LEGO world of Chima where tribes
of animal warriors compete in epic battles for CHI, a mystical energy source
of limitless power and destruction.
The story follows four young animals as they take a guided tour of Chima
with Plovar the Parrot and become entwined in a struggle between good and
evil as they help their hero Laval the Lion Prince do battle with Cragger
the Crocodile King. State of the art 3D animation will bring the audience
right into the heart of their journey as they sweep through dramatic
landscapes, flying through the magical waters of Mount Cavora and soaring
over the majestic Speedorz™ Arena of Chima in a high speed chase. The climax
of the adventure comes as Laval and Cragger take to their Speedorz vehicles
in a super-charged, super-fast race to capture a precious supply of CHI.
Will good prevail or will evil win the day?
Not to be missed is MINILAND, featuring key landmarks from Manchester and
