Who are VW Camperhire?

VW Camper Hire are based on the edge of the New Forest National Park in Hampshire, surrounded by some of the most stunning countryside in England. It's part of what inspired them to start restoring classic Volkswagen campers - that relaxed, retro, back-to-basics attitude towards life.
They are a small, family run business passionate about VW campers and helping their customers have amazing holidays and adventures. All the campervans have their own unique personality, style and range of features.

Their flexible attitude means they can cater to your individual needs whatever the occasion. Whether you use the campers for holidays, television, or weddings, they'll make sure everything runs smoothly and is just the way you want it.

Exploring the New Forest National Park and beyond makes for a fantastic holiday taking in the beautiful villages around the south. Take your time, relax and enjoy the freedom of the open road in a classic VW campervan.

Meet the Campervans

The campervans for hire include the classic 1970s Volkswagen Type 2 van, originally converted to camper vans back then and lovingly renovated inside and out by their dedicated team. What does that mean? It means you get the iconic Summer Of Love experience with the subtlety of modern convenience.

They want to make your holiday run as smoothly as their campers do! That's why they've fitted electronic ignition, and a catalytic converter to keep your carbon footprint down. In addition to the usual FM radio/CD player combination, in some of the vans they've also fitted an FM transmitter to hook your MP3 player up to the stereo, so your iPod, phone or whatever can play through the van's own speakers.

The vans each come with a cool box or fridge that runs from the leisure battery when you're on the move, the same as all the other electrical accessories and anything plugged into the sockets. That means the vehicle's own battery is never used for the lights, mod cons and other bits and pieces. The leisure battery charges when you're on the move, and can plug into a campsite's electrical hook-up to keep it charged overnight as well.

You'll be lovely and warm with the independent heating system in the van. For cooking, you've got a small gas hob and a grill. They supply crockery, cutlery, utensils, tea towels and other pots and pans.

The rental campers can sleep four people - two in the rear rock and roll double bed (it converts quickly and painlessly into a bed) and two in the beds or hammocks up top in the pop-top roof. Of course, since the van can seat five, there's no reason you can't use the awning provided to sleep someone in a popup tent just outside the van...you can draw straws every night to see who gets to rough it.

What's included?

The flat rates they quote to hire one of their camper vans include the following:
  • Hire of the vehicle and accessories.
  • Comprehensive insurance on the vehicle, to include one driver with no endorsements on his or her licence, subject to their terms and conditions.
  • Breakdown cover, subject to their terms and conditions.
  • VAT and unlimited mileage - just make sure you fill the tank up before you bring it home.
That's usually enough to make sure you'll have the VW camper holiday you've always dreamed of. However, they also offer a few additional extras, just in case you have other requirements. These include an Additional Driver Charge or Delivery/collection if you live within 15 miles of the base.

How much is it?

They offer two different tariffs, depending on whether you want to go away for a long weekend (Friday afternoon to Monday morning) or for a week. Prices start from £275 for a mid-week or weekend break and just £475 for a week-long break.
