We were asked to look at the BabyHub SleepSpace, a mosquito proof baby room and travel cot that converts to a play
tepee which could be ideal for camping parents with young babies. The pyramid shape is stable and secure and perfect for keeping baby safe. You can open and close it in seconds, and you can open it out and move
it from room to room, even while holding the baby. Here's a quick summary of it's features, and below that is a video so you can see how it actually works in practice.
Camping with a small baby can be stressful, with the constant worry of ensuring the baby is secure and safe whilst you do the inevitable tasks camping requires, so we were intrigued to find out if this could be a great solution - you'll find our hands on review below. What did we think? Our Review
This is an excellent travel cot. From the moment I started to unwrap
this I could see if was well made, well packaged and well thought out.
The SleepSpace comes in its own bag with large carry handle ensuring you
can put this over your shoulder or carry it in your hand. This then
loosens to allow access to the full length zip.
Once open the carry bag allows plenty of access without stretching or
pulling and the folded up travel cot came easily out of the bag. A brief
look at the instructions and we were away.
To open up the SleepSpace Travel Cot you simply pull upwards slowly on
the white bracket top, it lifts up and the legs
concertina outwards until it forms its shape. Once open, you snap two of
the brackets on the sides into place and the cot is up and secure.
Simply place the base in and you ready.
We found due to the shape that is was easiest to put the baby in through
the larger section and then we turned him round to lie the right way in
the cot, and he seemed comfortable and content in there and slept well. The unit was reasonably light and was easily moved around and set up by myself
and the baby's mother.
If you are travelling to a place with midges, mozzies, etc, this comes with
a very easy to fit, mozzie sheet and this is the correct shape, is
elasticated where it should be and fits over the top and protects the little
one inside.
As they get older you can adapt this to a play pen / tipi and you can open
up one side and this is done by popping off the two poppers, folding the
material out of the way and placing on the made to measure cover.
To put the SleepSpace travel cot away you simply remove the mattress base,
unlock the two side locking bars, lift the base by the pull cord and ensure
the four side poles are unclipped and it collapses back in to shape.
It fitted nicely back into the carry case without a struggle (always a bonus!) and there was
still space in there for a blanket etc.
To conclude, I will definitely be taking this camping with me in the future when we travel with the baby, and it's a great solution for keeping your baby safe and secure in your tent, awning and whilst sitting outside.
