we are considering joining this meet after all we are going to be at Cannich until a few days before - might have to see about re jigging some holiday at work.

For those who are not able to book the whole 10 days then it is no problem to stay for fewer days, we will be glad to see anyone who can visit overnight or longer, I will see if Ratty can add an option of how many nights and which ones on the registration form so that we can maximise on free pitches during the rally.

Hoping to include some time at Bruce's as we head south into England to rape, burn, rape, pillage and rape, (well I like the raping part the best!!).

Ah weel noo, we are not exactly sure as it has not been delivered yet but I marked out a rough area on the garage floor and then set up the camping table and 2 chairs and they went in OK.

Well Als Parker's "perfect lady", IE Mrs Lobey Retired on Friday and flew out to Lanzerote on Saturday to leave Oomwaa at home to fit our 3 kitchen sinks and accompaning utensils into our new Pint Pot Caravan, ready for trips to gawd knows where but including Bruce's.

Unfortunately Mrs Lobey will only be home with her suntan and "3 white triangles" for a day and a half before Oomwaa goes into hospital furra week. I is just having nae luck at all at all. Then it will be 6 weeks in recovery before we can finally get to try out the new van.

No worries though. With Meets like Bruce's coming up there is loads to look forward to come June and the months thereafter.

Packed the dishes and the cutlery in. All went well until the spining bit started. 'orrible noise and all that came out was the cutlery and many bits of broken crockery.

Glad to see you're coming.

I'm still waiting for confirmation of a pitch at Haltwhistle, and that was from over a week ago. The wheels may be slow sometimes, but it's well worth the wait.

Even if it is fully booked, Papa may well be able to work his charm on Jan (the owner) to get extra space. If that failed (unlikely), you would go on a reserve list and it's highly likely there would be a cancellation in the next 4 months before the meet.

Thanks Daisybev, I am recovering just dandy although I am not so sure about the water balloon bit!! Sounds a bit like getting wet an'at!!

Unfortunately Mrs Lobey is quite seriously ill and in hospital at the moment. Hopefully she will be back to her nagging self by Bruce's but all our other plans for trips away are up in the air.

So the only fit one around here is the Dug. Fortunately he canny drive or he'd be away on his own  :)

We are coming too.  Me, kids aged 7 and 5, and Poppy (Lab puppy) too (but only if her vet says she is able too).  Might need some help upon arrival as i seem to have a problem with the hand brake!!!!  For any volounteers there is always a beer (or cup of tea) as a reward.You will be able to spot me a mile off.  The helpless female who can't reverse van onto pitch!!!

Hi all,

we`ve just sent a mail to see if we can book this meet from 10th to 19th, fingers crossed there is space for us. Anyone else got kids of a similar age to ours? Son aged 14 and daughter aged 11, although as she keeps telling me she`s NEARLY 12 (in September).

How old are yours daisy? I`m hoping if there are kids of a similar age, my two will make new friends and stop haunting me all the time.

We will meet up before Bruce`s anyway ( if we can get in) as we are going to Haltwhistle as well.

I dont think their will be a problem in fitting you in, neither papa or I have had a final count yet but I am sure it will only take one phone call to Jan at bruces to fix.

I hope you will have received your confirmation e-mail by now but if not be patient as Ian & Steve are rather busy right now. as one member has already said "start planning your break"

Last I heard there were still a few places.

And even if there wasn't, I'm sure some charm could be used on Jan the campsite owner to get us more pitches.

So start making plans for your trip to Bruce's!

BTW, we'll have our nine year old daughter with us. And, hopefully, we'll have bagged an old playstation by then, and if a few others could bring similar stuff along with the use of a day tent, we could have a an area for big n little kids in case it's wet and also so we know where they are.

Michelle, the unwritten rule on UKCs meets is that if you see someone struggling you offer a hand, so you wont have any problems. Plus you will find that once you have done a couple of meets you do become good mates with most of the guys

the site is not that bad if you look hard at the ground you will find many level areas, my daughter had no problems last year in her tent and many others camped their without problems

lobey , some folk dont remember that the top field used to be a camp field but its now full of statics, people are getting confused with the centre field where the reception is. the problem with that area is it is very limited on space and has a lot of seasonal pitched vans their, the area is normally reserved for overnight stoppers and disbled.

the main touring / camping field is the bottom field. again their are seasonal caravans on it but loads of space and large tents are not a problem. yes it is on a slope but as I said if you look you can get a very good spot. their are plenty of water points and lots of electric points too.

Thats a good point actually does anyone on these meets actually experience problems with the pitches for xxl tents (mines a 20 birth). Do some sites complain or charge extra for the space, or has anyone ever been given a pitch that is too small???

Just food for thought, don't wanna go somewhere and chucked off same day LoL.

True it is a very large tent but because its very high and kinda round shaped it looks smaller than it actually is. But the good thing is put it on a big of as slope and the kids have a great time having rolling competitions lol.(yes me and other half had to join in the fun) u ought to have seen me tryin to squeeze into a young childs sleeping bag to improve my roll. LoL

now the slightly bad news

at the risk of starting an argument lol, in order to get everyone one on the site we have had to ask for the use of all the power points on the area , this in itself poses the problem that the ampherage is now lower than normal and we would request that you keep your useage down to a maximum of 8amps so only low power kettles and very low heaters if you need them at all that is. please try to keep yopur usage to around 6amps.Nothing over 1000/1200watts

It Applies to everyone with no exception Bev. The site electrics will be stretched and Als and I don't want to spend all day sorting lecky or running back and forward to the shop! ;)  I use gas for boiling me kettle in the caravan, tent or when out for a day trip, tastes just the same! lol
Ah, if you have a new caravan by then it will be my duty to test it out for at least em well ten days before you are approved for using it! (Sorted als won't need to get mine fixed Daisy's buying me one! ;) )

The only problem that we may have with Beecraigs is that our caravan door is at the rear and I cannot remember if there is grass by the caravan pitches where we could erect the awning. All I remember is the "wagon circle" and the tarmac. I will email them and ask what the set up is.

Geoff was pitched on one of the grass pitches that used to be there, e-mailing them should help. I feel a trip up the bathgate hills with the missus is just round the corner! If only I was a lot younger and fitter! lol

Hi Brenda, I have been thinking that too, I did try just after they re-opened but unfortunately it was still only tents that were getting on as the rest of the area had still to be finished. Will put it back on me wee list and see what I can come up with, no doubt if Lobey and Isla are coming this way and do stay there they will let you know when and maybe you would be able to join them. I will certainly give it priority for next season.

Glad your Dad is picking up its awful seeing parents ill.

Hope your exams went well, its also a worrying time I can appreciate that.

We are all well thanks, very tired after a fantastic weekend at Lytham, we had 24 Units and everyone of the people dressed up and joined in it was great..

Sadley though as we got there and were pitching the Lockon 6 the wind changed direction and hit the the tent from the side in a massive gust and even though we dropped it to the ground to avoid any problems the tent blew up and we had three poles split!!...

so instead of buying replacement poles we shot in to Fleet wood to th ebig camping shop there and bought another tent (on spec) for £299 a Vango Breckenridge beautiful tent but alas took up our monthly camping budget...
I have just replaced the poles for the lockon 6 for 15.00...lmao

We are at York for 6 nights from 4th Aug and leaving there to travel to Bruces, so we may be a tad tired after decamping and travelling. Would be nice to sit and rest with a cuppa while als sticks me tent up for me ;)

We have the area at the top of the picture, you can just see a caravan leaving on the exit road at the bottom.
When the big meet was held there the area with statics at the bottom was also a camping field, as you can see this is now residential.

Papa I would have loved to stay the full meet but alas same as last year I have to pick up Adam to go down to the RAW MEET in Weymouth and send Haydn off to Spain with his mate...

Hi Michelle, yep got you down for the 10-16th. There is no set agenda as both Als and myself believe that it's a time for relaxation and recooperation! However we do tend to gather around the excellent bonfire area on the site and have a bleter and a few drinks of a n evening, discussing what trips folks have made that day so that others can find out what there is in the area along with giving them an idea of what they may do the following day.
As there are usually a lot of kids on site we appointed Daisy to give them something to do whilst tiring them out so they where not left out of things, this was so popular that a lot of the adults joined in so we have plenty going on for them, There will be a raffle and colouring competitions and of course the highly popular Papa Pip's quiz! (No cheating and using mobile phones though!!!)

The main point of the Meet is to do as much or as little as YOU want to, I am sure you will find us a happy bunch and that both you and the kids will have a great time.

Don't worry you will find the whole experience enjoyable from start to finish. If you need a hand setting up then let us know and I am sure we will be able to help out, that is what ukcampsite is all about after all, helping each other enjoy the great outdoors!

and yes my wood cutting impliment will be in the car at Bruces, cant beat a good bonfire, have a bag of kindling lying in the shed nice and dry in case it comes in handy. how sad is that any offcuts of softwood I get instead of skipping them I keep for campfire kindling

Nice one Alan, we have a big chopper somewher but as in most things its probably in the cupboard under the stairs, once things go in there they are lost for ever!
Got a second hand shed today so once its up and the gear taken out to it I may just be able to find some of the things I ain't seen since moving! lol

I got two outbound high camping beds for me and Joan for when we venture out in the tent! Cost me £16 and they are new and boxed, well they were till I threw out the boxes! Amazing what you can get at auctions these days!!!

anyone going  on your first meet you will have a brill time we went on our first meet to Lytham be warned alot of them are going on this one and they are mad!!!!!!! ;)

Julie, lytham was a great meet and Bruces will be too but different as we wont all be dressed as surfers and hoola girls( unless papa dresses for dinner)
It will be quite different but all the same great....

young Waren will be one on Aug25th. for those who remember last year we had two ambulances compeating to which hospital jenny would be rushed too, one in England and the other in Scotland, jenny hung on for the final few days until she got home lol.

That is the one I do every morning! Got a bit too close a few weeks back to not celebrating it that it is now and honour and a privelige to wake up feeling good! Counting my blessings big time! ;)

MiL's B'day is on the 11th (can't say how old or I won't make it to Bruces ;-)), Kyle is 8 on the 22nd but we are planning to celebrate it early at Bruce's on the 17th as we won't see him on the actual day.

Then again, maybe that is blasphemy, mentioning woman and normal in the same sentance!

Safe to say you will be celebrating Isla being back to her normal in August! Something we will all celebrate as well, give her big hugs from me and Nana! Glad to hear that progress is being made and ever so pleased to know she is at home again, you need someone to keep an eye on you!!!! }:)
