Hi
I hope somebody can help me. I have been trying to contact this company for several weeks and getting nowhere, no reply to emails etc.
They collected our Pennine folding camper in February and told us they would sell it for us and could get £3,000 - £3500 for it.

I have today checked online and their Website says 'Permanently Closed'. I checked Companies House and it says 'Liquidation'.
Obviously I am absolutely horrified and just do not know what to do. I do not want the liquidator to think our camper is a Campers and Leisure asset.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Mary Alexander

Sorry to hear this, you need to contact the liquidators immediately and point out that your property may be on the premises. The liquidators were only appointed last week so they may not have disposed of any assets yet.
The liquidators will need to see proof that the FC was your property so that they can process your claim.
Make sure that you keep records of who you speak to etc incase you need to take this further.

Let us know how you get on.
Good luck.

Rob

Absolutely contact Liquidators ASAP to stake your claim on it, as may not be clear on company records who owns it, and risk it may be considered a company asset!

Many thanks to everybody for your good advice. We are completely naive with this type of thing. I left a message on the liquidators email yesterday (I like everything in writing) and will give them a couple of days to get back to me.
We are especially worried as we remember that the fellow who collected the camper said that the campers for sale were not kept at the main site. We were charged £150 for him to collect it.
He did give us a Campers and Leisure receipt and I have also got an email which says that they are selling our camper so I hope that will be enough proof for the liquidators.
I will update on here when there is anything new.

Update
I have just received an email from the liquidators informing us that it appears that our camper was sold prior to the Liquidation and we are owed the proceeds by the company so therefore we are a creditor for.

At the moment we are extremely angry and can't understand how this can be allowed to happen as we should have had our money as soon as the camper was sold.

At least it appears that you will get some money. Many years ago my parents bought an old caravan. When they decided that they didn't want it any more, they gave it to a company to sell for them. Company went bust, caravan disappeared.

Believe it or not, but there are a lot of unscrupulous people out there.

I hope you get some if not all of the money from the sale of your camper.

As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

That only happens after all the main creditors have been paid. The balance is them divided up amongst the rest and sometimes you are lucky to get a couple of bob. Very sad!

The annoying things were:
1. We would have bought it but were not given the option.
2. They didn't have the gumption to try and sell it themselves.

Update
We have discovered that our folding camper was sold in March which was 1 month after they collected it from us.
We do not expect to get very much if anything back as the assets seem to be minimal and there are 31 others in the same position as us called consumer creditors (unsecured).
