Hi there,

I bought a pennine trailer tent a year ago and it was my first time using it and i tried to connect the electrics up to the site but my trailer tent has a female connector and so did the campsite (which i believe is the norm). Can i just switch out the electrics for a male adapter or will i have to get an electrician?

Difficult question. It is very unlikely that this is the input point as it would be highly dangerous for anyone to have a hookup lead with a male plug to connect to this. The pins would be live.

It's far more likely that this would be used to plug in a cable to take power to something else such as an awning, or mobility scooter or tent etc.

It's likely there is a male inlet for the EHU lead to connect to from the site EHU as well as the female socket you have. It maybe underneath the camper or somewhere else. It will be like the male end of your EHU lead.

I assume things have changed over time, so what's on ours might be of no help but this is what we have.

There is an external socket positioned so it would be in the awning, to provide power for the awning. That's a normal three pin plug socket. The male hook up point is positioned so it is under one of the beds when the camper is opened up. Both are covered by plastic flaps.

Ours is a Countryman so the socket is by the door on the back of the trailer, and the hook-up point is on the side of the trailer, under the right hand bed.
