Well folks, been busy and only answered my scammer this evening. I doubt if he'll reply now, but you never know. My reply below.

Hi Ian,
My sincerest apologies to you, I'm very sorry for not being in contact sooner. As you know, I had to go to Stornoway last Monday. Anyway, I had intended to return in the afternoon but the wind got up and it was blowing a right hooley. I'm afraid the afternoon ferry was cancelled, as was the evening one. I had to stay overnight. As I had some business to do in Edinburgh on Wednesday, and in order to save a little time, I flew directly from Stornoway in the morning. Well, I had a great time, did some business then went to see a couple of bands at the Hard Rock Cafe. I'm afraid I ended up having a little too much amber nectar and eventually up at the Genting Club with a few friends. To cut a long story short, it's a Casino and I lost a fortune playing poker! Knowing that I still had to pay you for the camper, I was in a bit of a panic. I flew back up at the weekend and headed straight for the Uists, (Benbecula), this Monday morning. I had a brilliant week of deals and made up my losses from the gambling and a few hundred quid extra to boot. I'm just home this evening (Friday) absolutely shattered.
Anyway, enough rambling. I won't be offended if you've sold on the camper after my misfortune/fortunes but if you've still got it, do we still have a deal? If yes, do I still pay into the last bank account details you gave me, or into another account?
Many apologies,
MJM.

Hope you stay honest with bull"""t like that you could sell dodgy campers, like it

and the language is a bit odd.

I agree, really weirdly worded.  The £100 postage isn't right either is it?

You've got me looking for these now!

Me too. The camp-let Savanne went for £1825 (plus £35 postage!). I fear someone is going to be very upset - hope it is no-one on here

I saved this ebay listing to see if there was any feedback after the sale.

The seller already appears as 'No longer a registered user' and details of the camplet sale have been removed so hopefully ebay have saved the buyer from being caught out after the sale.

Note the delivery charges at the end. The camper is in Lerwick but it is more expensive to "post" to Scotland than rest of UK.

I lost the will to live trying to report my "first" declared dubious listing. I tried to report it without using the report item option as I didn't know that it was definitely fraudulent. Went round and round in circles with options on screen and it wasn't any easier when I made verbal contact with eBay. Just selected the "Report item" option this time.
Looking for dubious ads does increase your suspicions though. I was looking at an eBay classified advert advert for a trailer tent that was "Including Many Accessories & Top Extras" the add also continued in pidgin English. Now English ability shouldn't disbar you from advertising but if this seller hadn't got a long history I'd have had definite doubts about it.

just a reminder ,feedback is there to protect both seller and buyer ,i rarely buy anything on e/bay unless the seller has at least a 95% positive feedback and ALWAYS go to there feedback to make sure its mixed buying/selling unless they declare there a dealer .and i always check there bad feedbacks to see what the actual problems have been in the past

So Is It Or Isn't It

Well it doesn't prefer transport at a siily price. It's not a BIN at a couple of thousand pounds bellow the expected price.
So what am I to think, do I discriminate against sellers with no feedback. Everyone has to start?
Is it a racial or a geographic discrimination? Do I discount everyone above Hadrians wall or push it to the Antonine wall?
It's a shortly worded add in an open auction for a folding camper.
How in good conscience do I report the add?
Next question who amongst you would forward money to this seller through Pay Pal?

I've been watching this witch hunt, err, thread, with interest and whilst I agree that scammers are abhorrent con artists I can't help thinking that in some cases perfectly innocent people are being blighted on this forum.

Are any of you willing to send an email to the 'scammers' who turn out not to be, apologising for slandering them on a public forum, and adding public apologies in this thread? After all this could seriously affect their ability to make perfectly legal, innocent transactions.

I know there are some scammers on Ebay and some of these have obviously been 'outed; here and, as I say, I think scammers are absolutely abhorrent but lets not turn every Ebay listing from Scotland into a public witch hunt and lynching without establishing some facts eh?
