The only reason I would return t  tent from a TT is its not the easyest thing to erect on your own especialy if you dont have wheels on the kitchen unit.

We started off camping with a large frame tent and after one trip soon realised that 2 x kids, 1 x dog, tent and all the ancillaries that we kept buying did not fit in the hatchback so we bought a luggage trailer. We even out grew that and I had to raise the sides to fit everything in. The kids bikes were on the roof rack, most of the camping gear was in the trailer and still the car was packed. Now we have a TT with a front box, sadly, no dog but the car now just has the holdalls and the odd box of food. The TT with all its storage has everything else, all we do is pack our bags, hitch up and go. Should have converted years ago.
