The Pennine ones are made from Acrylic based fabric, made by Isabella. They are not PVC, but basically the same fabric used on many awnings. It requires drying, does not breathe like cotton canvas & has little or no insulation value. So, none of the good points of PVC or Canvas there. It is a bit lighter in weight though...
I had a look at the acrylic pennines yesterday - they certainly look fantastic and if we were in the market for something huge I would certainly consider one.
But I KNOW that if I had to pack away any unit wet I would want to dry it and air it as soon as possible. So for me there is no advantage in moving away from canvas.
Also acrylic goes brittle with age. Wouldn't touch it myself, although whenever I say that I always get some indignant caravan owner saying their acrylic awning has lasted for 120 years and is perfect.
Canvas is the only way for me. PVC is all very well but I look would daft in a gimp suit and so would my trailer...
