Hi Val, I think of myself more as a 'convert' than an 'unbeliever' GC and I had some good times in the Corniche, but the time we had to take it down in pouring rain, and very gusty wind, decided the direction we had to take. I think that if we had had somewhere to dry it, other than the bedroom, we may still have had him. The people that bought him, have now gone on to a caravan, so they probably had the same bother. I am happy with 'Drummel', whatever the weather throws at us.
I still believe in canvas, HONESTLY!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Val, no there isn't a sun canopy, am I right in assuming that the awning is inbuilt in the Contiki, I have the canvas, both inner tents, curtains, and the bag of awning poles.
Ann
Yes, it's integral. If you look on the link I gave you to the 1988 catalogue you'll see that though there were three versions of the Contiki made (Contiki, Contiki L and Contiki DL) they all had the same cabin+awning. The DL had the kitchen unit. But I don't know (yet...I'm off to find out) what the difference between the L and not-L version was, apart from a mysterious 18Kg.
Edit. The L had side lockers, the non-L doesn't.
Also in the course of my looking through the back Conway catalogues I noticed that while the Contiki was made over a number of years and in different coloured canvas there was a change in the width of the canvas too. For instance, in 1987(?) the Contiki was 400cm wide erected and the Camargue was 440cm, but in 1989 both of them were 420 cm wide, which became the standard for a while.
This could be very important if you came to sell it on, both to check the canvas would fit onto another model body and to check the inners fitted too. No sign of a date on any of this stuff? My Camargue has a date on one of the pole bags if I recall correctly.
