Jeff Lad, If you do go to Manchester try Castlecroft camping 0161 7249922 -steve(part of JR Leisure group) They were excellant when showing us how to put the camper up/down and its quite an excersize because it has to be done in order to make it open/close right, but like everything when you have done it a few times it's easy and quick. The above had mainly Pennine's and Conways, new or second hand. You will find that you need more storage space for a fc as tt's are usually smaller trailers but depends on models.
Going off the subject here but has anybody tried putting up a pop up gazebo (with sides in) onto their fc for added space just for a weekend? Does it work?
Not tried the pop up gazebo idea although it sounds like a good un to me But i can tell ya that if you have a conway cruiser like mine you can get it from attached to your tow car to completely errected (!) in around 12 mins with 2 adults and without rushing. we did it yesterday and i was amazed at how quickly we got her up. We put in all the inner tents, connected the mains hook up, turned on the gas & put up the wardrobe etc within this time. Only thing left to do was to fill the fresh water bottle (waste bottle was connected in the 12 or so mins). Our tt used to take at least 40 mins and usually longer - mainly because we had to put up the awning and the whole thing needed pegging down. Beds are just about long enough for me (i am a bit taller than 6ft), fully sprung so super comfey and cozy too(inner tents make sure of this hehe). TT biger but takes longer to get up and cheaper - FC is smaller but takes a fraction of the time and effort to put up, has more in-built luxuries, but is smaller and more expensive. Best one for you? Depends what you want to do! 1 night specials or long weekends - choose a fc. Week or longer holidays - TT much bigger and much cheaper. Thats my 2p worth and i have owned both so i speak from personal experience. Whatever you choose - happy camping

Been looking at showrooms and on the web and have narrowed down to Pennine Sterling, Fiesta or Conway Continental, Countryman but am toying with the idea of having a day trip to Manchester to check out the camp-lets... in the mean time I'll need to check out 2nd hand prices.
you will be sold on the camplet, providing you dont want masses of space
as for2nd hand, you will struggle to find second hand camplets, as theyre so popular, they dont come up for sale very often

Check the size of the beds - lie down on them. Check that your head and feet are not in contact with canvas, and check the width so that your sides don't touch the sides.
The same goes for all the different models. The dimensions in the brochures are not the same as real life because cotton is baggy, not solid.
Any dealer will let you do that. We spent a hilarious couple of weeks in Feb stretching out on the beds all over the North West. We were amazed that we were the only ones doing it.
Alan (6' 3" and 17 stone who has no intention of sleeping in separate beds on holiday.)
Off to Manchester in about a fortnight.... off to darlington this weekend to check the Pennine's and Conway's so hopefully in a month or so should know what tickles our fancy and check on our savings
