Hi Terry, glad you enjoyed 'Dexters' first outing, we had 3 very wet days at 'Otterburn'.

Hi Terry ,ditto' our site was a 'quagmire' raining when we got there, and 5 mins later, the hugest hailstones that I have ever seen.

We used the awning, but have decided that when we go away on Friday, that we are just going to use the new huge toilet tent that we have just bought for storage, it separates into 2 sections, so we well store the big clothes box etc in there, plus 'Diggy' dogs cage. We find it quite easy to put the awning up, though to tell the truth, Gerald mainly puts it up by himself, as i am not A. tall and B technical,

I can see your point about little Bonnie and cooker, Dexter is a bit bigger than Drummel, but still not alot of room.Dont you just hate it when the sink won't empty, lol

Hi Ann, other thing I found was I ran out of work space in Dexter. I had the cool box on the cupboard at the end of the single bed, the slow cooker on the draining board and no where to put the kettle!

Hi Terry, yes the space issue is hard, especially after being used to 'Brummel' with his big table, After you have served the food, it is where to put the dishes, while you sort out the washing up. We have been away without hook up for 3 days, so you also have the added worry of, will the rechargable lanterns last 3 days, unlike Gerald, who falls asleep within 10 mins, wherever he is, I am awake most of the night, so I read alot, however, my lanterns were fine.

When I got back this afternoon, I had 3 loads of very muddy washing to do, mats, curtains etc, towels.

Did you have any condensation ib Dexter.?

Hi Ann & Gerald,

I did have condensation, but not too much. I did use a fan heater at night (with a thermostat) just to keep the chill off so that may have caused it. The heater was mainly for my daughter as she has a tendancy to kick off any covers and won't sleep in her lovely sleeping bag as she can't wriggle in it!!

In the end for space I put up a small folding table in the van for work space but of course that meant no room for anyone else!!

Awning instructions would be great - I posted a picture of the poles on the Dandy forum and think I know which one goes where but I just seem to have too many! I think it should be fairly easy to work out but I always like having instructions the first time.

Thanks

-------------
Terry

Well we've done it - first time away and ended up staying for three nights instead of the two originally planned. Glad I'd bought a Utility tent as it was a bit wet to eat outside - managed to cram in there one day for dinner! Decided I'm going to have to put Dexter's awning up every time as I need the extra space out of the weather to put things like the cool box and stuff. Plus I need a space I can have my daughter so she's close, dry but not near the gas cooker when its on! Also learnt that it is worth making sure he's fully level, front to back and side to side before I open the beds up or the door doesn't shut easily (that and the sink is hard to empty!). All I have to do now is try and put the awning up - sure I have too many poles!

All in all a successful trip.

Good you had a brill time Terry....and thats why we nearly always put our awning on the side of the nannybus....cos we need that extra room....

weather wise...Joe and i went away in his caravan...and had a wife free 3 nights away ..well i tell a lie...cos Billie turned up and stayed the Saturday night ...then off again in the morning as she had work.. Sunday atfernoon Lady Jayne and our Jemma turned up for the barbie..then went home

Saturday was great and sunny Sunday rained for a while.. then Monday was great again...so all in all a good weekend...and Joe cooked for me ...i just made sure he always had a tinnie to hand ... lol...think when we got to the site ...the four other units that were there... thought we were an item....
