Well said val. Dogs have fur as my OH says. Providing dog has warm bed and if you like you can put a sheet round to stop draughts then under bed in cage is best place. If you start now it will think no more of it. Mine is not caged at home but takes to it camping as that is what we have always done. I dont like the tetther over night as they could get taffled up. You can get non spill water bowls or one that hangs on side of cage to stop them knocking it over.
A border terrier is unlikely to be cold, they are a hardy breed. Our neighbour once complained that I bathed the dog with the hose pipe on a cloudy day. I pointed out that she was only having a bath as she had volunteraly spent the last 20 minutes in a filthy dyke swimming. She did not seem cold then!!!!!
