I was only thinking of using the charger to charge the battery, ie at night or when we are out during the day. I have also fitted a battery level meter to keep an eye on the condition of charge. The battery i got has a colour change window on top(green full, white needs charging and red flat) but as it is in the locker you cannot see it.

Do you all agree that it is best not to flatten battery completly.

Thanks Dave.

1.Only aim to half discharge the battery, ie only use 40 amps befrore recharging.  Other wise you will need a charger such as the CTEC to recover it if it is fully discharged.

2. Don't be suprised if the battery becomes less effective over time, ie will not charge or looses its power quickly due to sulphating.

As I wrote earlier I recommend Haynes Caravan Manual as it is a mine of good info.

Regards Bob

Suggest you type CTEC Battery Charger into a search engine. Loads of info on the net, thought to be the best.  They are waterproof, can be used in the rain, connected the wrong way round and left permanently connected without causing damage, etc.

The XS3600 should be OK for you (approx £50 delivered). I paid well over the odds for the XS7000 from the Dicount Motorists Centre but it was still worth it.

Regards Bob
