Don't dismiss the Dandy awnings. They are really not that bad to put up!  If the awning has the walls bonded to the roof, consider getting Ian at Riva Leisure to cut them off & fit zippers.  This makes assembly much lighter work & also lets you put the roof up on its own as a sun canopy if needed (Only ever in Spain!).  there are several advantages to sticking with PVC.

  • Pack away wet.
  • No rot or mildew.
  • Heavy gauge polyester/PVC fabric is pretty much bomb proof.

If you have a dandy awning give it a go.  Yes they are heavy, but can be done by one person.  Much easier with 2 though.  They do suffer condensation on wet pitches, this is reduced a lot with a non breathable groundsheet.

Steve.

hi there i don't own a dandy awning as such ,want to, the one that came with the dandy is cotton with the bit that attaches to the dandy its self is pvc and it goes under the roof of the dandy and ties to the main dandy frame on the inside of the camper would really love and need a dandy pvc awning but they seem to be as rare as the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow regards zoe.

Hi Zoe,

If you have one of the old canvas Litchfield awnings you can measure the side that goes against the camper to give you the size. Or you can use it as a pattern for one of the many awning repair services to make a copy for you. You already have the poles.
