It would be a very rare thing for to have a gas leak as well as an electric fault in the front locker.I have a 96 Fiesta and the 12 volt water pump and 12 volt sockets run from a built in transformer when on EHU.

We have an 04 Fiesta and our battery box is on the outside near the the water connections ,it opens with a flat key not a round one like the front locker

We have a 2004 Fiesta and the battery on our is located on the near side back in its own container. Yes the water pump and light on shelf are 12V, but will operate via 240V if you flick the switch on the consumer unit onto 'charge'. Our consumer unit is to the left hand side of the kitchen in its own cupboard. Later Fiestas it is in the OS/RHS locker over the wheel arch (the big one!) .

Ours opens with the same key for the gas box and door.
