Hi Lorraine,

Just one thing to remember about camping with 7 children, pray for good weather and make sure they are all in the car before you leave. Long story involving a service area and my children......

Mary - that sounds a great idea. Haven't heard of the Brecon one - only just bought the camper (probably a naff time to buy it while already on a holiday abroad and hardly any time left to use it this season) I have one possible weekend left in september. I'll look on the meets thread and see when it is.

Hope to meet you soon!!!

....its early october Lorraine - there is a cheshire one for sept time nr Tarpoley - not too far but we aren't able to get to that one. Karl&Jules and us were wondering about a more local bonfire one - The Plassey has one for weekend of 5/6nov but its £20 per night(with leccy) or Lower Lacon at Wem have one - bit cheaper but £1 each towards fireworks - not sure if that charge is just adults or kids too though.....

Hello  I might be abit late but the best folding chairs i've found are at Asda.  3 sizes large (fits the biggest rear!) average and child's size.  My daughter is 6 and she loves hers.  All come in canvas bags - easy to fold quick to put out - just straighten and great storage.

OK - I think you'd all be proud of our 'camping stuff dash and grab session'. The people who owned the shop weren't too pleased to give us advice as the shop was just closing but we're on a VERY tight time schedule.

We have now purchased:-

two play tents for the kids to use in the awning, 4 large plastic crates £2.98 from Woolies for the food, a camping drainer and stand thingy for washing up (with free bowl!!!!!!!) two sleeping bags, three double duvets 13.5 tog £7.99 each from Dunelm, duvet sets including double duvet cover, sheet and pillowcases £13.99 from Dunelm, a largish halogen heater for those rare occasions we manage to get an ehu, Fabsil for future reproofing and two large chairs which were expensive but if we find the cheaper ones in Asda tomorrow then we'll get those for the kids - I mean as long as WE get the comfort.......NO COOKER - I think we'll make do with those crap disposables and have a longer think about those. Oh, and I ordered me and the hubby a hoody fleece from a fishing tackle firm to enable me to cope with those arctic sessions around the extinguished crap barbie drinking the pink stuff.

Just need a way of paying off the credit card bill now!!!!

I paid about £6.99 for the largest and only aout £4.00 for the smallest which has a dalmation style band of patterning across the top - cute!  i paid alot more for a 'fishing chair' which looks exactly the same so i was well pleaed with Asda bargain.

good luck - also bought a small wooden table from Asda - £6.00, Slatted top which is about the same size as a small side table.  My daughter uses this in conjunction with her chair - teddy parties and the like.  This too folds into a canvas bag when you take out two small screws

Bernie xx

Oh well done, Bernie - for having 6 kids and still managaing time to get onto the internet!!!

Phoned Asda here and the one in Oxford but no chairs left. So sent the husband off to TJ Hughes and he got some there - £7.99 - not too bad for the kids at least and a dinky one for the babe in purple with a heart on from Millets - ahhhhhhhhhh - not much cheaper than the big chairs!!!

Got tarpaulin for the landrover. Also got the cranberry juice. Now I need to buy a top of the range (ha ha) family size disposable barbie and start the intense meditation to invoke good weather.
