Well we tried out our newly aquired used Pathfinder a couple of weeks ago and had a bit of a nightmare with the awning.
We assembled the front awning poles and left on the floor and then fitted the 3 cross poles. However when we put the canvas over it wouldn't reach the mating zip on the camper! I then shortened the cross poles and all hell broke loose. We had a couple of hooks that kept falling out of the end of the poles and dissapearing under the camper. Also some of the sprung pins that connect vertical poles were missing, hence they would fall apart causing the awning to colapse!
After about 1and a half hours of effort, we had finished, in the darkness, both very cross and growling at the kids.I have now ordered some new hooks and sprung pins for the poles so hopefully things will go a little easier next time. I also know not to stretch the poles out too far before pulling over the awning.
We also had a problem with the poles sticking together (adjustable ones) and was wondering if silicon spray would help. The zips were very stiif and also need loosening somehow(silicon spray, or candle wax perhaps?) The camper hadn't been used for 18months so this could have also contributed to some of our grief. We are out again next weekend so hopefully with our past experience we should be a little more quicker.
Paul.
