Was given a hint a by a camp site warden that when using storm straps put a twist in it and that stops it flapping up and down and making a noise in the wind. It worked.
vmlopes I think fatbloke means you put the storm straps over the the frame before putting on the canvas but not sure my self on that one.

Just bought some of them light up tent pegs from pound shop, 4 for a £1. Should bring a smile to the rest of the camp site.

we bought one once that immediately removed all the waterproofing where it touched (even where the water dripped pulling off) the tent so we left it draped on the line for a year but we still dont trust it over the canvas and resort to the old one under it around the frame.

We had exactly the same thing happen with our storm strap & had to use it on the frame, under the canvas.

I've since cut the strap in half & fitted a buckle so that we just have one strap on each of the two outer pole. It makes it easier to fit even if putting on after the awning is already erected.

We have a spare set of guy ropes which we attach to the frame at the front using the holes as mentioned by RadJK. These are usually held by Delta pegs.

This may seem over the top, but it works & we can rest easy at night.

Really? how the hell do you bring the ends out and attach it all to the sprung links once the canvas is down? Have used one on my frame tent before but that had the PVC roof so no chance of it rubbing on the canvas, have not used it on the TT

hi i use this method myself and you just peg the storm strap down inside the canvas it works fine and no chance of rubbing if i'm really worried i put one over the top aswell but right at the front so it won't leak inside tent.

Isabella storm straps just arrived. Will put on on each front corner and peg inside. The "peg" they come with is a foot long steel spike, I can now see why they cost £15.

Just looking through the pictures section and notice quiet alot of you have guy ropes attached.  We didnt get any on our camper so never really crossed my mind to get some.  As we still have our 'L' plates on regarding the camper I would be interested to hear peoples views on this.  Thanks.

We've been wondering too. Have bought a storm strap but not needed it yet. Have just bought some guy lines and planning to attach to front of awning. Was wondering about some Isabella storm straps but they seem expensive, wonder if they worth it....  The awning on our Countryman did not come with anything but does peg down all the way round. Also peg bed skirts.

Just returned home from a weekend of very strong windy weather.  We still didnt get around to buying guy ropes.  Last night the whole camper and awning felt like it was going to take off even though it was pegged down really well with rock pegs on a hard standing pitch. Would we have been more secure with the guy ropes, if so I am off to buy some for our next trip. Are there any I should particularly be looking for, eg length etc?
