I have a 1978 CombiCamp that I bought on eBay last year for a song, and it has well exceeded all expectations. It's more than easy to put up, once unhitched and the axle stands in place, from unlatching the 'roof rack' on the trailer it can be up and ready for use in 30 seconds. No pegging required. The bed is kept ready made inside so all I need to do is unzip the inner and I'm sorted! There is a zip-on awning that more than doubles the living area but I can't do that alone, but don't need it. I have a cheap, light-weight porch/utility tent from halfords that I raise over the towbar mounted kitchen instead that is big enough for a camp table and a few chairs.

At Greenbelt Festival this August Bank Holiday in Cheltenham we had most weather you could expect and then some, including torrential rain and strong winds, enough sunshine for the unwary to get sunburned and ground frost - seriously! I was glad I was in my nicely substantial trailer tent rather than my previous rather flimsy tent!!

I'm not exactly young and I use a wheelchair a lot of the time, so if I can manage a CombiCamp I'm sure your parents could.

In general the DL model (deluxe) means its got the kitchen on the sunncamp its the SE models that have kitchens and some of the trigano and raclet ones have kitchens that have taps over the sink for running water. 

This one is nice as it's almost got sewn in groundsheets to keep the drafts off the living area

I've become a bit of an anorak as i'll be sitting there browsing ebay and will say the tt's name even though it may just say a trailer tent for sale and not the make lol

Hi Glamper Granny, thanks for your reply. I have spoke to my Mum and she is chuffed that even with mobility problems you "glamper grannies" can get out there with the rest of us. She is very excited to get going !

I looked around a lot before I decided on the type of trailer tent I could manage. There are a lot out there!!!  I needed something I could manage independently, light enough for me to cope with moving and hitching (a jockey wheel was an essential for me but can be fitted afterwards) small enough to fit in my dinky garage for storage, and a fast and easy set up.

The first one I  looked at was the Raclet Solena, it is small, but it's only for me, and it flips open like a clam shell. I would have needed the awning to store my wheels though, and I was told it really needs two people for this, although straightforward.

I was seriously tempted by the Camplet, and sucessfully managed to 'flip' and raise the awning single-handedly on one of the newer ones in the Camperland showroom. The newer ones have gas struts which help the opening of the the lid, the older ones (that I could afford) I couldn't open sadly. I really liked the idea of the attached awning and kitchen.

A friend has a lovely old Conway, which is great, but takes a good hour to set up! I believe some Sunncamps are like that too, fab tents when set, but one of my main reasons for upgrading from my tent was that I can no longer manage to pitch it and sort out the inner bits without wiping out for the week!

Once I saw a CombiCamp I was decided, so then started to look on eBay and logged into the Combicamp forum for further info. I went to view a few, which I think is essential if buying online as a couple really were in absolutely dreadful condition, but the one I bought had been well looked after and surprisingly people weren't bidding on it!  I got lucky I guess.
