I think legally you can tow. Practically you will be underpowered. You will have to be careful of not taking too much stuff and do more gear changing than usual. If you intend changing the car in the next few years it might be worth struggling for a couple of years but if the car is staying for the next ten years look at a lighter fiesta or countryman.
