Just had a look at http://www.whattowcar.com/ and matching my 406 Estate HDi 110 to a Caravan of 1321kg puts me at 87% with a low star rating in most of the test areas so I think a Meriva that weighs a good deal less would be in a lack of power most of the time.
------------- If it ain't broke don't try to fix it!
but thats way above the weight of a fc a caravan is a different ball game entirely ,plus we have not got all the facts ,i.e what engine is in the meriva petrol /diesel or for that matter your 406 is it a 1.6 110hdi or a 20.litre hdi ,you really need the FULL facts before judgement can be pronounced
her indoors was after a pullman,we have a Berlingo multispace, it will tow the pullman but it gave me a tolerance of about 180kg, which i thought was too tight, so we now have a countryman, miles more tolerance to the ratio, and an easy tow.. she will not tow .........[the line!!]
------------- That's not a dog....... That's a Schnauzer
We have a meriva 1.4 and easily pull a conway countryman. It does struggle a little bit up big hills but usually it is fine you do not even know it is on the back of the car. We looked at bigger folding campers but the log book said the engine was not big enough to pull a heavier camper.
