Gary,

Just an update on putting gas assisted struts on each bed to try and reduce the weight and ease the opening and closing.

I have emailed Trigano with the problem and asked them if there is any way to put gas assisted struts on and if so what type.

I will post their reply when I get one, which may be in a couple of weeks because the guy is out of France for a while.

Gary,

The photos of the bed leg feet I had modified can be seen by clicking "view profile" under my name............don`t know how to get the photo`s in this message, (I will leave photo`s there for 4 weeks then remove them).

You will see that the original bed leg pole is slightly longer than the modified one. This is because the nylon bed leg foot stands higher than the plate welded to the bottom of the modified leg. This was done so the holes line up with the original bed leg pole making the bed the same height off the floor. Hope that makes sense.

All I do is put the bed leg feet in place, (on the second from bottom hole, which makes them the same height from the ground as the original), just before lifting over, which takes 10 seconds to put 2 on.

The bed leg foot is screwed into the base of the pole, which allows slight adjustment if required.

I only had 4 made up because in my opinion the middle legs are as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

Griff

Griff, So from what I can see there is a threaded insert welded in the bottom of the tubes in to which you screw your custom made foot?

I take it the foot is fixed and will not tilt to match uneven ground? But then it is this that makes the stock foot weak.

I'm now on my third foot. One was damaged when we brought the tent and we have got through another two this season alone.

I'm tempted to get some nuts welded in an use some of the feet shown in the link but then that will be permenant and with a possible fix from Trigano in the offing it might be worth waiting. Think I will only manage 1 or 2 more trips this season.

Gary,

You are correct in what you see.

The foot is fixed, but I have had no problems whatsoever on any pitch i`ve been on.

I still have the 6 original bottom bed leg pole and bed leg feet. I purchased 4 bottom bed poles and had them modified because I had gone through 3 sets of bed leg feet.

As I mentioned in an earlier post I would wait until Trigano bring out the new bed leg feet they state they are going to.

Hi all,

BCC have confirmed that Trigano will be bringing out a new more stronger plastic bed leg foot in January 2012.
