Thanks everyone, also regards to what weight can go on the beds. Me and my husband have a combined weight of about 36 stone (I am not slim & my hubby is a body builder) will the beds support us or not. Wouldn't like to be falling out of bed at 4 in morning all red faced due to bed braking.

Just answered your other thread. Also consider whether you would have enough room regardless of weight. Some beds are only under 4 foot wide.

One advantage of the trigano 575 is they have 140cm wide beds both ends. Whether they are as strong as the Pennine I don't know

Definitely check the power, It may be heavy enough but may not get you up hills.

The reason we changed from the Fiesta was that we found the bed was not big enough for both of us. The Cruiser / Crusader / Pathfinder models having a wider bed (I am no lighhtweight, but not due to body building I'm afraid). However our combined weight would push towards 16 stone and the bed is still intact!

And to clarify my previous post on this thread, I have often seen XSARA Picassos as well as C4 Picassos and C4 Grand Picassos towing caravans. (Not seen a C3 Picasso towing one yet). Good luck with your decision.

Have just been looking up on the towsafe site and this lists the Xsara Picasso petrol as having a kerb weight of 1240kg, not sure if this makes any difference, and I know there is a debate as to the published kerb weights from manufacturers. My handbook quotes an unladen weight of 1268kg for the Petrol.

I suppose I should add that the Xsara Picasso's I have seen are probably diesels towing caravans.

Hope this helps rather than causes more confusion!

Hi there, I am quite sure a 1.6 petrol piccaso would be short on power to tow a pathfinder or crusader. The 2 litre diesel is a much better option (diesel engines develop more torque)You would have problems on hills and hill starts.A forum member last year who owns the same car and engine size as yourself was complaining about lack of power towing a Conway cruiser, which is only 750kg max(before someone jumps in , a 1998 model) ,the crusader and pathfinder are 1000kg.MAX
sorry to be negatige ,but you have to get it right.

hope this helps    GCB

Hiya, well I spoke to a citroen car dealer today & he has confirmed what all of you have said, which I didn't doubt anyway 😉so we are going to upgrade our tent instead. So I'm going to the CAMPING UNDER CANVAS section now for some ideas on a new tent. Thank you very much to everybody who has taken the time to reply.

Would it put a spanner in the works if I was to say go for a trailer tent? Lighter than an FC but to me better than a normal tent in that you are not sleeping on the ground. We had 2 Jamets before moving to Pennine FCs and really enjoyed them.

Up to you Amy, but all I can say is enjoy whatever you choose and get scratching that itch!!!!!
