Have a look at my gallery, I have adapted a Kampa rally air 260 and it works really well.
Have used it 3 times this year for 10 and 11 night breaks in high winds and torrential rain and it stood up to everything.

John very nice set up you have there . Mr T the awning is a movelite xlf and the figure eight strips were bought from winfields cost about ten pounds.

I used an old sun canopy that I had just cut it so it still had an apex on it then sewed the flat edge to the beading tape on the awning.
It then just zips into place.
You just start the zips each side, pump up the awning and then zip it in place.

Left the beading on the awning in place in case I use it for a caravan at a later date.

I've just bought a sunncamp ultima 260 plus awning like yours john, so I'm going to try to adapt it with these figure of 8 things if possible.

Hi sorry to bring up an old topic but I have bought a length of figure eight and wondering do you cut it into two bits so it meets at the peak of the camper or just one part and bend it around the peak on a pennine pullman se thanks in advance carl

Ideally you need the figure of eight to span both sides from the apex of the camper down to the width of the awning if possible this will stop any drafts and water if you look at my profile pic you will see that the awning is sealed the full width hope this helps

I'm looking at doing this but don't know what awning to buy for the best.
I want one that is simple to put up and like the outdoor revolution ones.
I would really like one of the Air ones but they are just to expensive.

On the figure 8 have you left it as it is or nipped it together on one side?
If nipped ?? Does it still go on the zip ok ?
Do you feed it right round from the end.

I tried one piece in my zip last time I had the camper open and it seemed ok but it felt like it may come off.

I assume you nip one side in so it is a little tighter onto the zip and leave the other side so it goes on the porch
Alun is it the full width of awning that the figure eight wants to span not the actual canvas on the trailer thanks for you help ;)

Yes I leave mine on just pinch the zip side lightly and leave the over side so you can slide the awning through it , I also have a movelite awning mine is the xlf and it suits me and the family just fine and only takes about 15 mins to put up

Sorry missed the second part of your question you will only now how far down it needs to go when you get your awning the beading on the awning will give you the length of figure eight needed so if the bead on the awning was say eight foot long then you would need two 2 foot lengths one for either side hope that helps
