I am happy to tow and was prepared to have a go at reversing but OH trained HGV drivers so I would magnanimously hand that task over to him......

We now have a Powrmover - any reversing is left to OH and 15year old daughter - I am only required for 'advice'

One tip I was given for reversing is to use your door mirrors to watch the trailer(or caravan). If the trailer starts to swing then you turn your steering wheel towards whichever mirror is showing more of it , and this straightens it out. eg. if it starts to swing towards the kerb , you will see it more in the passenger mirror - turn your steering wheel to the left towards this mirror and this has the effect of straightening the trailer. Not much help if you're trying to reverse round a corner ! but works in a straight line , although there can be a delay between turning the wheel and the trailer straightening so don't panic ! Agree it is definitely harder with a smaller trailer and I have the same problem as kempus with my 'tip' trailer - have to almost stand up to see it behind the Zafira.

The short trailers really are a pain in the A.  They either do not react to the turns on the steering wall or jack knife on you. It is made even more dificult in that you can not see them easily.

Couple of things that II found helped make slow short movements on the steering wheel, if you have a hatch back see if you can open the boot so you can see the trailer in the rear view mirror.  Just dont forget to keep an eye on the tailgate as well.

slow on the road wheels and fast on the steering wheel is what my pops used to say to me ,

yep the smaller the trailer the  harder it is to reverse with.

but you will get it  just keep practicing  the dents will come out of the car easilly if you ring your local dent demons hehehehe
