hi we are thinking of changeing our dandy 5 1980's for a conway tardis or newer model next yr.

Had 20 + days holidays this yr in dandy, but find it harder to put up as our health probs get worse.  So looked at an easyer to erect camper and saw the tardis and cardinal on the web.

We are asking are these conways that easy to put up ??

we can have ours up and kettle on within 15mins. erection as follows :- unhook, level up , steadys down. handle in wind up (takes two -3 mins) slide beds out, inside to fix canvas bed ends in place,door down,  wardrobe lifted up, lift over the cooker/sink unit. table up  switch EHU on,  kettle on.

I wouldn't say there was that much agro putting it up, the wardrobe can removed if its difficult for you to lift up. The newer the units though, the more internal fitting/lifting there is involved , ie toilet walls, shelf units etc. the awning can also be difficult (heavy as its canvas) but we use alight weight porch awning for shorter trips now.

I wonder why they no longer make the hard top model? They seem a really great idea to me and so popular.

The wardrobe isn't that difficult to lift, especially if you only leave light gear in when you pack up.  I must admit that the cooker/sink is quite heavy but my husband and I can manage it between us - we both have arthritis of the spine - and I often do it alone.  Most folding campers have to have the stove moved into position and I find it easier than our previous Pullman where it had to be completely removed and stored on the floor.

We have had our Cardinal for a year now and wouldn't change it.  We can put up the cabin in 15 - 20 minutes and can fit a normal caravan porch awning if we don't need the big awning.

I understand that they are no longer made because the winding mechanism was too expensive so they were making a loss on them.
