Had you made that clear, I wouldn't have needed to ask the questions I did to find out if this was indeed a good alternative solution to mine, nor did you explain that, in your opinion, they had solved the damp problem that you have apparently never had!
We're still no more enlightened as to whether your solution ever solved the problem flagged up by the OP or if you think it has simply prevented it from happening in the first place. If it has, then that's great.

Whatever makes you think I am angry? I simply wanted to know how your solution worked? And I wondered if something that is essentially plastic would trap any existing moisture? Clearly now, reading your above post, it works differently in repelling it in the first place.
The only clues I had to go on, to be fair, were your posts, i.e 'Aldi £7'... and 'but i dont get damp even with the wetpack underneath'......
I just wondered if I was missing something, so asked you to clarify, there is absolutely no need to over react?!
This is a forum that people often post helpful solutions and tips on, and I have learned a lot from it over the last 7 years, especially since buying my Folding Camper back in May, I asked lots of questions then, and received really helpful answers and ideas, and some of those ideas I have used. I am very grateful to everyone who has posted responses to my queries in the past, and have said so in my posts.I have also posted ideas and helped others in the past too.
Do you really seriously think that I might be miffed that someone else has posted an idea different from mine, or that it was cheaper? That says perhaps more about you than it does about me.
Your post above comes across as slightly angry and aggressive in tone, to be honest.
Lots of others have posted lower cost and different options too in reply to the OP, so why would I only (supposedly) object to yours?
Had you posted some of your above thoughts originally regarding the fact that you have no damp when using your idea, yes, people could have drawn the conclusion that it stopped the damp from getting in,or that you had experienced damp in the past but since using the insulation hadn't any more, but your posts didn't really say which it was.
You can't therefore really be surprised that someone might ask how you felt it worked, especially when your idea seems to be prevention, and mine seems to be the removal or drawing away of any moisture that might get in.
Either sounds like it could be effective to anyone reading, and as you say, their choice which they preferred, but without reasonable detail in the post about how you found it as a solution to a problem such as the OP has had, you can't blame someone for asking.
I was interested to know, so asked, surely the norm on a public forum where debate is part of the nature of it.
As I said, its good to know that your idea worked by preventing the problem happening in the first place
At the end of the day, we both have nice dry mattresses, so what's not to like?
Jane.

Ok so let's look at the physics to do with condensation. Basically warm air will hold more water vapour than cold air, so when warm moist air reduces in temperature it cannot hold so much moisture and condensation will form on the cold surface which caused the temperature drop.
Classic cures for condensation is to reduce the moisture getting into the air in the first place, see how much moisture the human body produces when asleep, google it, so that's difficult in the context of our discussion.
Increase the ventilation, this effectively dilutes the moisture by changing the air.
Now to the crux of our discussion, if you can increase the temperature of the cold surface (insulation) then the warm air will not get cold and will be able to retain the same amount of moisture, hence reduced or no condensation. Much depends on the circumstances of your camping, if you are camping in very cold temperatures will your insulation be sufficient to keep the cold surface warm? It might be that if you have the bed skirts under the camper the bed surfaces will not be so cold in the first place.
In conclusion it seems to me that two individuals have used slightly different approaches to achieve the same result. The more expensive option uses insulation as well as ventilation, there are pockets of air. The less expensive option relays solely on insulation. From the posts both are successful in their own way. It stands to reason that if you have am impervious layer then the moisture will not go through it but if there is dampness it will lay on the surface, think of a garden pond!
I am a retired Chartered Surveyor and the problem of condensation in houses is well documented particularly in 60's built houses. No I don't want to get into an in depth discussion, I am retired and just want to spend leisure time. This involved using our camper in the Alps and let me assure you it was cold. Might be overkill but having got the more expensive alternative I might invest in the other suggestion as well!

That is an interesting post, Bramidan!
There are clearly different ways to solve the problem, guess it is up to the individual to decide which one suits their preference and their budget, its good to see all the options.
I'm happy with my choice, and do actually already have a couple of foil backed camping mats to add if I was away in cold temperatures and wanted an additional layer of insulation, the best of both worlds, I guess!
Jane.
