We had, and loved, a Pullman for eight years.

Eventually sold because of the growing pile of other kit we took with us (Kayaks, bikes etc etc ... and there just wasn't the room to cope, despite adding a single bike carrier to the rear of the camper.

We made several changes/variations including:

1. Getting rid of the window curtain rods in the main cabin ... pretty heavy with curtains on and often distorted the ceiling infit. We switched to sprung wires (as are supplied for the bedroom windows and the two curtains that cover the bed space openings ... just drilled holes in the adjacent upright supports and slung the curtains on them ... could even fold down without having to remove the curtains.
2. Removed the fold down cupboard/wardrobe ... found that we had to empty it before folding down, unless used for pillows, which, anyway, can pack away in situ on beds. This gave a lot of extra space to pack items in whilst towing.
3. The cupboard top that held the removed cupboard was tiled and then served as a base for a table top fridge ... wonderful extra space for items that needed fridge ... even if it's just loads of beer! As we holidayed mainly on the continent, that was a lifesaver as the small built in fridge couldn't cope.
4. Varnished the bed support boards with good quality marine varnish ... top, bottom and sides ... saved any problems with damp.
5. When attaching the awning ... zip it on first, then throw it over the roof of the main unit ... then build the framework ... when frame is up, pull zipped on awning back over the frame ... make final adjustments to frame ... then peg out.

Have a ball ... they are terrific fun and value!

Another good addition to your kit, get a Karcher or similar for wet pack ups.

This is great - thanks so much .....I have the Karcher on the list - I want to be fully prepared for wet packups!

I think I'll go for the oil filled rad for overnights / mornings and a small fan heater for boosted heat

Thanks for this. I was considering making the wardrobe removable (or replaceable with just the back wall (to keep the back room closed in) and having the extra space for other items /, and gaining that floor space back.

I would love to see some pictures of your set up.

Enjoy ! We had one for a couple of years before upgrading to a caravan .... sometimes I wish we hadn't, it's so easy to tow and move and in effect you have fixed beds. The only thing that got me was trying to strike camp before it rained and the canvas got wet.
btw where in Ireland did you find it, as you say, they are quite rare here ?

I got mine from a private seller in Mayo, they got it from someone in Cork a few years previous.
It was a bit of an impulse buy, I had been lusting over a ROAM adventure trailer but there was no way I could afford it (and it's really only for single / couples)
If I get out in it five times next year to start, I'll be happy enough.

My plan for 2024

May
Lough Ree East (with family) 1-2 nights

June
Lough Key Roscommon (for a festival with mates) 3 nights

July
Hidden Valley (with family) 4 nights

I may try and get away with the wife (without kids) to test everything out - and keep the stakes low.

Then I'll try and squeeze in single nights in and around Galway / Mayo, based on weather conditions

I'm on the fence to do a "night at home" I think that might actually backfire and cause the kids to go into their own beds and label the camper as a failure. Any thoughts on that?

All sensible enough sites.

If you don't think an overnight at home won't work then don't - though on a clear dry day there would maybe be no harm in putting the camper up (you'll have to do this to get used to it anyway I would guess) and letting them use it as an outdoor room for the day.

If you're going away without kids, theres a nice adult only site in Sligo, Lough Arrow that might be a good alternative.

Theres a good youtube channel called Charlie And Me that does reviews of a lot of campsites in Ireland - it's mainly aimed at motorhomers and does a lot of aires and the like but there are quite a few camp sites in there too. I'm fairly sure he has reviewed the three sites you mention.

turnfan

we bought ours in Manchester and then had it ferried over to Belfast ... friends towed it to Liverpool docks and handed it over to the ferry co.   they unloaded it at Belfast, and I collected to tow away.

Pics?

Sadly I lost about 15 years of films and pics when my back-up drive blew up.
A pile of old DAT cassettes are waiting to be digitalised ... god knows when!

We've had a few FCs over the years. When using in low season, fit good quality electric underblankets / mattress protectors (we user Dreamland) and you'll be toasty!

Leave the bedding on the mattresses for a quicker set-up.

Leave curtains on the rods, position them all together, then roll them up (makes pitching quicker next time.

Those little low wattage plug in heaters like this Beldray are good for taking the chill off in the cabin.

The muggi mug holder protects mugs in transit.

I'd suggest pitching the cabin and getting a hose on it, before setting off on holiday. Just check the canvas for leaks and get used to pitching it. You'll need to do this anyway to fill it with your stuff, but choose a dry day to do it (not so easy at this time of year!).

Enjoy!
