Thanks for all the replies. I'll make a note of the handy tips

I'm driving over to Morecambe tomorrow to pick it up, hope it doesn't snow on the way. I've never towed before

Can't wait to pick it up. Bought it off ebay (8772205595) so hope it's a good buy.I think it will be just the job for us so it was worth the risk.

Kath

Kath,  it may or maynot be of use...... but I found this useful today having just picked up my first Dandy too.....

I managed to buy a dvd from the dealer of people putting up the camper in detail it was brilliant today when we were putting it up.  I played a bit of dvd then we did that bit.. then the next etc. Much easier than following instructions.  Might be worth asking if he has the video for a destiny??...( thinking might be very similar in design to the 6????)

Putting up a dandy is not difficult or actually that time consuming we discovered today but it has a set order and little knacks that if you forgot may make life more difficult if you forgot....... Actually the worst part of it for me was unhooking the brake cable of all things......The fact I could replay the demo so I remembered on a portable DVD player helped me...

Hope to see you around in your new Dandy.... Good luck with the drive

Radiokat,

Looks like yours is the same model as mine, I hope you love it as much as we love ours!

Hi,

Well the weather across the pennines couldn't have been worse and I almost postponed it. But we braved it and made it safely. The owners very kindly made us a cuppa  .The Dandy looks great, very tidy inside, lots of storage. A few dints outside, nothing you wouldn't expect for the year.We are happy with it. It was already up so the owners packed it up for us. Can't say I will remember any of it, all looks a bit confusing, no written instructions for putting up so think there may be a few domestics going on when we have a go

I towed it back and it wasn't as bad as I thought. Have to fathom the hitching and unhitching yet as my brother did that bit!

Tentpegjenny- will look out for a dvd!

Can't wait to try it out now.

Kath

I've got instructions if you need them and if they're not on the yahoo site (link above).

Ring Riva, you have to pay for it... and am not sure if they have them for all the models but I honestly found it invaluable.  (Having said that I am hopeless if I can get it wrong I will....).  I am going on a Dandy rally with mine in April to so there will be some backup, they are a really helpful group, you can join for £15.00 and you get your first rally free! (First two nights).

The theory is that if my first outing is a rally there will be backup from people with similar units if I get stuck!!

Actually putting it up was fine my problem is putting it into the garage  it was a nightmare there is this slight slope and about an inch step just before you go in.  There was me and my 17 year old son and I had to call in reinforcements and I know if I was trying to get it out would have a real problem.....   Looking into the possibility of winches at the moment.....
