Hi Jan!  Nice to meet you there!  Maybe TTs are charged more than caravans, because a lot of them have groundsheets?

It always amuses me when sites want to charge a pitch fee then for people on top of that (as well as all the 'extras' that sites seem to charge for theses days). Hello??? i've never seen a unit pitch without at least one person!!!

I've never been charged extra for an awning, and can't remember being asked about one either, must be the sites i use. I agree with "extras" pricing - pitch then how many people, cars etc. i tend to avoid sites that charge like this, or if i can't work it out i ring or email for a price.

Groundsheets are another problem, can i use a pvc sheet or do i have to use a "friendlyone?" i tend to use whatever they expect caravans to use.

I've just recently bought one of those breathable groundsheets, but I've been told they still let the dampness through.  The camping shop told me to put a pvc sheet underneath to stop it.  Then if the campsites who insist that you use one, won't know any difference!  I know it's a bit naughty, but some sites request you lift up your groundsheets during the day.  It's a bit difficult if you have equipment all over the place!

Lift groundsheets through the day - whatever next - dismantle the canvas on the awning and move the unit every other day?

I think some campsites are losing the plot as to the reason people go camping.

To get away from rules and regs!!!

I know that it is a business but eventually people will vote with their feet and camp somewhere else.

Clear and Simple pricing structures always work best i find

Hi all,

Being somewhat new also, it never occured to me that the pricing structure may be different for each item in the footprint.

I have seen some tt's with several awanings attached, so are they priced as 'extra'?

It's certainly a point worth noting in our future plans.

I think that it is becoming the norm to charge for "bits" so its well worth reading the small print and phoning to query. Most of the bigger sites have web sites and their pricing policy is on there. I'd like to see them try and charge a trailer tent for both the sleeping + living+ extension awning but I expect somewhere will try.

I'm surprised ther's no charge for sun canopies! (yet!)

Was looking at a campsite yesterday that we're planning to go to & they want £5 p/n for a dog. WHY???? I pick up, keep her tethered, walk her responsibly & she hates the shower, so what exactly is the cost for??

In all my years of having T T 's I have not ever used a groundsheet. Quite happy with grass under my feet and it doesn't ruin the grass
